It's Veterinary Appreciation Day, so we want to take a moment to recognize our amazing veterinarians, Dr. Laura Hartman and Dr. Aimee Patterson! Cats are very special animals and it takes a special kind of empathy and understanding to provide the care that our kitties deserve. We could not hope for better advocates for our feline patients - so for today and for every day, we say THANK YOU for all that you do! ❤️
June 17th is "Take Your Cat to Work Day"! We'd imagine most kitties would prefer to NOT participate in this day, unless their human works from home. Trini (our technician Dana's cat) is an exception - she likes to make herself at home and steal the veterinarian's chair! She also insists that we call her "Dr. Trini" despite her lack of credentials. 🙄
It's Feline Friday (although that's every day for us), so let's celebrate with some cute welcome pics! 😸
Temporary Schedule adjustment!
Bedford Cat Clinic will have adjusted operating hours from June 3-14th. During this time we will be open Monday - Friday 9a-5pm.
One of the best parts about boarding kitties is getting to see them settle into their "home away from home"! Everyone finds their favourite spots to get cozy for a nap, or to make demands for attention. 💕
Note that we will be closed this upcoming Monday, May 20th, for Victoria Day! If your kitties require any care, medication refills, or food before the long weekend, reach out to us at 902-444-8383.

Cleocatra wanted to let everyone know that our power has been restored! (Not that she even noticed, since she's been basking in her sunny spot in her boarding suite all day. 😸)

Phone lines and internet are currently working here at the cat clinic but not at Basinview. We had another absolutely adorable glow-up with Rosie last week! ✨ Her eyes haven't changed! 😻
We love a good glow-up, and it always amazes us how Ragdoll colours change as they grow up! ✨ Sophie looks very different from when we met her in 2021, but her grumpy face remains the same (don't let it fool you - she is a sweetheart). 😹

The Metro Animal Emergency Clinic will be closing at 8pm tonight and re-opening Jan 3rd at 8am. Basinview Animal Hospital will be taking care of any Bedford Cat Clinic patients during this time so follow the procedure below if you have an emergency.
**IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT**
Due to extreme staffing shortages, the Metro Animal Emergency Clinic will be functioning strictly at level Priority 1 from December 23rd to January 3rd.
This means we will ONLY be seeing pets that are critical or in a life threatened state.
To help our clients assess whether or not their pet needs to be seen immediately and to enable access to a veterinarian for those who may need it, we have partnered with VetTriage, a telemedicine veterinary service that provides online assessment. The cost is $50 (USD) and they will refer your pet to us if required or recommend waiting to see your family veterinary hospital if it is safe to do so. VetTriage provides immediate live video veterinary consultations to assess your pet's physical condition. ( They do not prescribe medication - that must be done in person.)

Can you still call us if you have questions or concerns about your pet? Of course! If we believe a telemedicine assessment is warranted we will direct you to do so, or if it is clear your pet needs immediate care we will advise you to bring them in. Can you simply access a telemedicine appointment without calling first? Yes, absolutely.

Time for a glow-up! ✨ We love seeing how kittens grow up between their first visits and their first annual check-ups - Frank has grown into the most handsome boy! 💕
One of the common reasons we see kitties is for urinary concerns, and oftentimes these visits end in a diagnosis of Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC). This is when the bladder has inflammation without a known underlying cause, such as crystals/stones or bacterial infection.
Stress is often a contributing factor to flare-ups of FIC, so we wanted to share some information on this condition as well as ways to help cats feel happy and comfortable in their home environment.

Not everyone can be an adorable kitten, but that doesn't mean we don't love them just as much! ❤️ Poolump (there's a story behind the name, we assure you) is always a favourite visitor, and she even made us an ornament for our tree and personally delivered it! 🎄 She was happy to have a visit that was 100% treats and 0% poking and prodding. 😸

Mackey had a wonderful visit with Dr. Aimee last Friday! Would you believe that this boy has previously been very stressed and reactive for his vet visits? Thankfully there are medical options to help reduce stress for kitties like Mackey, so we could plan ahead - now he and his family no longer have to dread when his annual exam rolls around. 💕
