The office will be open for retail and boarding ONLY on Sat Dec 23 from 9am until noon - there will be no doctor available this day. The office will then be closed from Sat Dec 23 at noon until Wed Dec 27 at 730am. The office is closed Mon Jan 1st, and will reopen Tues Jan 2 at 730am.

📢 AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT 📢

To our valued LVH Boarding Families - we have had to make the extremely difficult decision to indefinitely pause our boarding services as of October 19/22. This decision has not come lightly, but at this time, it is what our team needs to do.

All current boarding reservations up until October 19th will be kept, but unfortunately we are unable to book beyond this date.

Please accept our sincerest apologies in this matter...we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all of your previous support in our boarding facility.

We hope that this closure will only be temporary, as we know it is a service that many of you rely on. Please note at this time though that there is no expected re-opening date. We will keep you updated here.

Henri is very excited to launch the Rabbit Foster Care Program today at Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward! 🐰

Thanks to donations from all my supporters including Loyalist Veterinary Hospital, Apple Falls Cider, Campbell's Orchards and more, Black Rabbit Rescue Fund was able to purchase large exercise pens, food, hay, litter and more to create the foster kits and foster manual for this program!

Currently the shelter is caring for more than 10 rabbits who will greatly benefit from time in a foster home!

Why do rabbits need foster homes?
🥕Rabbits are very prone to stress in a shelter setting. Foster homes provide a low-stress environment which makes for happier, healthier bunnies.
🥕 Rabbits waiting for adoption can wait weeks or even months to find their forever home, foster homes make the wait more enjoyable.
🥕 Foster homes allow rabbits to come out of their shell, and show their unique personalities! This provides insight when writing adoption profiles and matching bunnies with their families!
🥕 Foster parents help socialize and litter train, which increases the chance of adoption and makes the transition into their forever home easier.

Why foster a rabbit?
🥕 Fostering saves lives! Foster volunteers accommodate animals in their homes which opens kennel space at HSHPE. This allows us to help more animals in need.
🥕 Fostering is temporary, it’s a great way to experience the benefits of rabbit companionship without the commitment.
🥕 Volunteering with HSHPE, getting to know your foster rabbit(s), and helping to prepare them for adoption is a very rewarding experience!
