Clients and pets will see a new face in the hospital beginning this week! “Dr. Sara“ has joined our team, and will be working alongside Dr. Wright.

Dr. Sara was raised in the Toronto area. She graduated with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine & Surgery (BVMS) from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and is fully licensed by the College of Veterinarians of Ontario.

Dr. Sara is a soft spoken, very talented, delightful young woman whose philosophy towards veterinary medicine aligns very much with Dr. Wright’s approach. We are delighted she has joined our team and are looking forward to working with her.

As promised, here is an update to Leonard's story. We posted a couple of week's ago about Leonard (the pygmy goat) being unable to use his front legs, and having the use of a cart to help gain strength in the legs. Here is Leonard now. Strong and healthy, and doing regular goat things! A great success story!

Where there is a will, there is a way! In the past, this wheeled cart has been used for small dogs with hind end instability or paralysis. When Leonard, the pygmy goat, came to our hospital with partial paralysis in his front legs, Dr. Wright innovatively turned the cart around to help provide the support Leonard needs to get those front legs working again. We will keep you posted on his progress!

COVID Re-Opening Protocol: February 2023

Wright Veterinary Hospital is now allowing vaccinated, masked clients (one per pet) to enter the facility with their pet during their appointment.

We will continue to offer curb-side service for those who choose to remain in their vehicles during their pet’s appointment, and for food/medicine pickup.

Our clients’ support throughout the COVID years (and always) is greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Construction to the bridge on County Road 16 just above Wright Veterinary Hospital has begun, with completion scheduled for late August. This means our clients approaching Wright Veterinary Hospital from the north, west, and east using Highway 109 and County Road 16 will not be able to access the hospital at Side Road 20. At the intersection of County Road 16 and Side Road 20, you will have to turn west to access Concession Road 3 or east to access Concession Road 5. Then you will travel south to Side Road 15 and turn east from Concession 3 or west from Concession 5 to access County Road 16. Then travel north to Wright Veterinary Hospital (observe blue arrows on map). Unfortunately, Side Road 20 in this area and the concession roads are not paved. If you do not wish to travel on a gravel road, it will be necessary to take Highway 6 to Fergus or County Road 5 to Belwood to access County Road 19. Follow County Road 19 to County Road 16 then travel north to reach the hospital (observe green arrows).

The bridge is closed, but we are open!

A reminder that the bridge on County Road 16, just north of the clinic, is now closed for construction.

The Wellington County Roads Committee carried a staff recommendation to award a Wellington Road 16 Penfold Bridge reconstruction project to Engineered Concrete Ltd. for $980,000. The recommendation will go to council on March 31.
