Narrator: "While not often seen in a busy clinic setting, Katie was in fact laying down on the job........providing patient care and comfort to the post-op patient." 😃

Jokes aside, we do have a warming mat built into the floor of our new clinic to provide a warming, and comfortable environment for our patients right after they come out of surgery, before they go into their kennel for their full recovery!

Special thank you to one of our RVTs, Katie, and Chewy, the dog, for being great models!

Q & A with Dr. Ingrid!

Please note that the pet did have surgery and recovered well! 😊❤️‍🩹🐾🐾

Update:

Bladder stones are mostly seen in small dogs for some reason - it may have to do with a combination of genetics causing a change in the ph of the urine - and also urinary tract infections, sometimes that you can’t really notice- allowing crystals to form and then the stone to form from these crystals.

The solution is dilution!

Making sure our little dogs drink lots of water 💦! And to do this, we like to do a few things:
1. Feed a small amount of wet food daily - diluted with water.
2. Feed water heavy fruits - watermelon, cantaloupe, cucumbers, etc.
3. Also checking your middle aged to old little dog’s urine for crystals or infection - bring a p*e sample to your vet! They love samples….🤣.

The little dog in this picture only really started showing signs of irritation within the last couple of weeks - but I’m sure this stone has been growing for years! They just adapt and carry on! Truly amazing!
