Chico “Cheeky”
2009-2025
We have been dreading the inevitable loss of our best boy Chico. Although we are heartbroken 💔 we were able to see him off in the comfort of our home on his favourite bed and a bowl of ice cream in his belly.

Chico was dropped on our doorstep shortly after we started Paw Springs in 2009.
Our “first rescue” - we quickly deserted the idea of finding him a new home. Not only did we fall in love with his gentle nature - he was a natural at keeping the peace in our playgroups. A respected calming influence.
An integral member of our team, virtually every day for almost 16 years.
Chances are your pup met Chico - as did many of our human customers.

Like any pup he would get into things….like the time Jenn K decided to take him to her family’s house for Christmas Dinner! While guests were busy downstairs opening gifts, Chico snuck away and proceeded to “clean the dishes” on the table! Oh what a feast!!

It was his energy that made him so special. He exuded confidence amongst the dogs in our care. Never bossy - rather, he was an “ambassador”. However, he was not afraid to intervene when needed and could calm down the group in a hurry. In short Chico became a “translator” between us and our guests. He knew his job and did it well.

The last few years he was slowing down and had lost his hearing(except for my whistle and the crinkle of chip bags?!) - amazingly we could still communicate. We adapted to hand signals - or he just knew by looking at me what was next.
Chico never took a day off of watching over me. If I got up - he would follow. If I snuck away he would find me. My loyal boy, at my side (literally) for 16 years - I feel like I’m missing a limb.

We feel tremendous loss as a family, as well as his many loving fans!

Our Heartfelt thank you to Dr Yolande Miles , Ashley, Steph, Kailey and staff at High River Veterinary Clinic for all the exceptional care you gave Chico all these years. Thank you for helping us give him a peaceful passing surrounded by those he loved. 💕🌈🐾

🎄Spirit of Christmas 🎄

Well wishes to everyone this holiday season!

With the SPIRIT of CHRISTMAS 🎄 and in the Joy of GIVING 💕to those less fortunate in our community; we wish to make donations to Animal Rescues that are near and dear to our hearts (and probably yours too!)

HEAVEN CAN WAIT, OKOTOKS POUND RESCUE and CANADIAN ANIMAL TASK FORCE will each receive a donation of $500 on behalf of Paw Springs Doggy Crew!

Our business relies on clients who are in a position to enrich the lives of their pets…but those are not the circumstances for thousands of homeless, sick and injured animals who don’t have fur-parents.

The crisis’s facing all shelters are enormous and we care deeply for their cause. We hope that in the spirit of giving you don’t mind to forego a gift for your pup and pass on the love 💕 to an animal in dire need.
