🚨🚨 If you are running low on prescriptions or food for your beloved pet, please make sure all orders are in before September 19th! As we will not be placing any orders between September 20th - 30th. Special orders will resume on October 1st. 🚨🚨

✨ Meet the staff Monday this week brings you Kyra, one of our newest receptionist. If you've had the pleasure of meeting her then you already know the light and joy she brings to the clinic.
We are thrilled to welcome her to our clinic family, she is the perfect addition. ✨

Kyra has extensive experience in the farming industry, as this is where her love and passion for animals all started from. Kyra has worked with both large and small animals most of her life. From working as a kennel tech, beef cattle ranch and dairy barn to working on a ranch with various horse trainers and training others herself.
Kyra started at Clearspring Animal Hospital in the spring and she is absolutely loving her position at the clinic and coworkers.
She lives on a farm with her fiancée and her two daughters, Sophie and Elsie. In Kyra's spare time, she is usually training horse's, roping or tending to the wide variety of animals she has acquired.

Those in the know about Deb can tell you, she's head over paws 🐾 about Veterinary Medicine and being a Registered Veterinary Technologist. So much so that she sparked the passion for being an RVT in two of her daughters!

Recently, Deb got to team up with her daughter Shaelynn in the operating room for a fur-tastic orthopedic surgery 🦴

We are so happy to have been a part of this monumental moment in their lives 💙

We'd love to introduce you to our wonderful RVT Deb 🩷

Deb graduated from the Animal Health Technology Program at Red River Community College in 1990 and made her way to Clearspring Animal Hospital in 2011. Her passions for teaching and Veterinary Medicine have made her an excellent mentor for many current and future Veterinary Professionals.

Always with a smile on her face (and often humming a tune) Deb loves all aspects of being an RVT but assisting in surgery and performing prophylactic dental cleanings are some of her favorite tasks! In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, variety of pets, reading and outdoor activities.

This adorable guy came to the clinic for his second round of puppy vaccinations. He is such a sweetheart, and he made sure to greet all of the ladies that work at the clinic. We absolutely love it when this little guy comes in for a visit! 🥰

Did you know heartworm comes from mosquitoes?!

Factors that affect the prevalence of heartworm infection include the species of mosquitoes (there are as many as 30! 🤯), the climate, and the presence of reservoir animals. The risk of infection is greatest when mosquitoes are actively feeding. This typically requires temperatures over 10°C.

👑Princess👑

Is such a trooper! Princess was unfortunately diagnosed as heartworm positive June of 2023 after missing only one season of prevention. Her dad opted to go ahead with heartworm treatment; a lengthy process that involved scheduled day and overnight treatments continuing until November 2023. She had her final 4DX test in February of this year to determine if the treatment had successfully killed off the parasite, and we were all thrilled to see a NEGATIVE heartworm result!

Princess' story showcases the importance of having your pets on prevention for the entire season, where heartworm season begins in June and runs until November. If you're considering heartworm prevention for your pet, give our team a call and we would be happy to help!

🧡PEKOE🧡

Is a stray cat that melted all of our hearts earlier this year. Pekoe was found on the side of the highway covered in blood, and brought to the clinic by a kind-hearted passerby.

We tended to him while contacting Steinbach and Area Animal Rescue, who promptly took him in under their wing. It didn't take long for Pekoe's extremely affectionate personality to shine through despite the pain he was in. He was hospitalized as he regained his strength, to all of our team's delight.

It took as little as approaching his kennel and he would roll on his back, reach through the bars, and bake plenty of biscuits. Of course he was a little nervous at first, but despite his experiences he allowed us to mend him back to health and seemed to affectionately give his thanks.

🌼 Daisy 🌼

Is a beautiful Basset Hound who visited our hospital for her spay surgery recently. We figured she would be a stellar contestant with her post-surgery look. 😋

True to her breed, she has the cutest stubby legs, more wrinkles than you can count, and ears that sweep the floor. Daisy was so happy to be reunited with her parents after her day-stay with us.

Running into the weekend like…🏃‍♀️😎 We still haven’t gotten enough of Daisy’s ears, if you can’t tell.

You may have noticed a new face around here…🧡🤍 Meet STEVIE! Or Steven, Steve, Stinky-Butt— the list goes on. Our friends at @oakbankah reached out to us when poor Stevie was abandoned by his owners after being dropped off for a bite wound repair on his rear end. They knew we had an orange-cat-sized hole in our hearts since Oliver’s passing (our beloved previous clinic cat), and the rest is history! Stevie has adjusted remarkably to clinic life, already acting like he runs the show. He is very involved in his new role and eager to help, although we prefer he not send emails (there have been some close calls). If you stop by our hospital, keep an eye out for this trouble-making redhead and you may just make a new friend! 😸

Today is World Spay Day! World Spay Day is an annual campaign aimed at raising awareness about the importance of spaying and neutering our pets. Not only is spaying and neutering a part of responsible pet ownership, it’s good for their well-being. It also plays a crucial role in controlling the stray animal population, and reduces the number of animals subjected to an unfortunate fate. This February, we hosted two spay and neuter clinics for Steinbach and Area Animal Rescue where we desexed 24 felines in total. Boehringer Ingelheim graciously donated Rabies vaccines and deworming for the cats, and even bought our team lunch! We are so very grateful for this opportunity to do our part in giving back to the community. Now, a list of benefits to fixing your pet! 1. Increases lifespan 2. Reduces risk of cancer 3. Prevents unwanted pregnancies and pets 4. Helps to prevent or reduce behavioural issues 5. Reduces risk of contracting infection 6. Reduces number of animals in shelter 7. ❄️ H E L L O N O V E M B E R ❄️ Staff pet, Marley, has an important announcement for you: The grass may be covered now, but your dog still needs their last month of prevention for our MB heartworm season! Why do I need to give my dog heartworm medication in November when it’s already so cold? The November dose works one month backward, preventing any possible larvae picked up in October from developing. Need a re-fill of your pet’s heartworm prevention? Give us a call at 204-346-1429.

We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend 🍂🍁☕️ Amidst all the fall activities, don’t forget to give your pet their monthly dose of parasite prevention! We recommend keeping your dog on heartworm prevention from JUNE - NOV. There’s a few milder months left, but those remaining doses still do matter! Fact: Heartworm can be spread by mosquitos anytime the temperature is above 14°C.
