Starting August 1st, 2024 at 12:01AM the CDC Border crossing rules apply to all dogs, including puppies, service animals, and dogs that left the United States and are returning.
Dog owners will need to make sure the following is complete. If you do not meet the requirements, your dog will not be allowed to enter the U.S. and will be sent back at your expense.
Dog owners must have a Documentation of a Canadian-Issued Rabies Vaccination, issued and signed by a Canadian licensed veterinarian, which includes vaccination and microchip information and certifies that the dog has been vaccinated for rabies.
Also, dogs must have received their vaccination after having a certified microchip implanted, or on the same date that it was implanted — otherwise, that vaccination will not be considered valid by U.S. authorities.
Dog will need to be at least six months old
Pet owners will need to fill out a CDC form (attached below) The form requires basic information about the dog as well as "a clear photograph of the dog showing its face and body," according to the CDC website. The website adds that dogs younger than one year should have the photograph taken within 10 days of arriving at the border.
Have a veterinarian sign an export document and health certificate withing 30 days of travel.
Please be aware that dogs imported for commercial (resale or adoption) purposes have additional requirements from USDA. The website for more information is below.

When artificial insemination is performed at BVH, it is always good to evaluate the ejaculate before inseminating. In this case the numbers are good and the motility is adequate. Let's hope we get the desired results!
These little creatures (ear mites) were found on a newly adopted kitten from a private home. They are common parasites, but are very itchy! They will also quickly spread to other cats. Ear mites, fortunately, are easy to treat.
