Nous recherchons présentement des parents de chats intéressés à tester une litière intégrant des granules de détection de maladies félines. Ces granules peuvent efficacement détecter le sang et le glucose dans l’urine des chats. La présence de sang ou de glucose est anormale dans l’urine des chats et un signe d’une potentielle maladie, telle par exemple une maladie urinaire ou du diabète.
Étant donné que les chats sont experts pour camoufler leurs symptômes lorsqu’ils sont malades, cette litière permet de détecter ces signes de façon précoce et ainsi éviter des complications santé et des frais onéreux chez le vétérinaire.

Did your cat wake you up this night again? Check if you tried all those TIPS to stop your kitty’s night activity:
☑ First, it’s important to understand why your cat wakes you up at night. Is he bored or hungry? Or maybe he wants his litter box to be clean?
☑ If your cat is alone a lot, he probably is resting during the day. Look into the ways to amuse him while you are out.
☑ Perhaps when he was a kitten or a new cat, you responded to his wake-up calls and created the wrong habit. The good news is that it’s reversible. Next time he pounces at an unacceptable hour, roll over and stay put. After several nights of your boring reaction, he’ll lose interest. The main TIP here: don’t give up!
☑ If you feed your cat immediately after you wake up, he may be waking you to invoke the feeding process. Go about your morning activities for a while before feeding your furry friend.
☑ Maybe your cat likes your night light for having fun? Minimize light in the sleeping area or try room-darkening blinds to discourage activity. On the other hand, if your cat is a senior citizen, with failing vision, soft light can help.
☑ Or maybe your cat wakes you up just to get some attention. Any attention, even the negative one, could paradoxically reinforce the cat’s attention-seeking behavior. Try to keep quiet during his calls and he’s more likely to learn a lesson from your silence than from your annoying antics.
❗️Also remember: any new behavior for your cat might be a sign that your cat is not feeling well. Before trying any of the above tips, you should visit your veterinarian If your cat is suddenly waking you up at night and have never done that before.

Traveling with your cat by air?
Due to current airport delays, Air Canada suspended new requests for pets to travel in the cargo hold until September 12th.
Pets will still be allowed in the cabins of most flights. They can lie down in a carrier under the seat in front of the passenger.

Here are some TIPS to help your kitty to enjoy your trip too:
📍 Check with the vet before traveling anywhere, make sure your cat is fit, healthy, and able to cope with the stress of moving. Also, if needed, all vaccines. Your vet might also recommend medication if necessary.
📍 Ride your cat inside a carrier for your and your cat’s safety’s sake. Be sure to choose the comfortable one and start to introduce the carrier to your furry friend in advance. Pick a size where your cat can stand and turn himself into the carrier.
📍 Take with you the cat’s favorite blanket/favorite toys you've petted him before
📍 Consider the weather. Keeping your cat at a comfortable temperature can make their travel experience much easier! Be especially careful of heat. Temperatures can rise very fast in a car. Never leave your cat alone in the car.
📍 Keep kitty hydrated. Bring lots of water with you for your cat and offer this at regular travel stops. Wet food in the can is also a good option.
📍 Bring litter tray options. For longer distance travel, however, bringing a disposable litter box, and offering regular toilet breaks to your pet can help to make the journey more comfortable
📍 If your cat tends to be carsick, your vet might recommend you avoid food while traveling.
📍 If your cat show sign of stress, take some breaks on the road when possible.

Great news for the pets in Quebec!
The Ministère de l'Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l'Alimentation du Québec (MAPAQ) released its project of the regulation on the welfare of companion animals and equines yesterday. The new regulation includes positive changes for our beloved cats!
We gathered the key points for the cat parents:
☑️ A ban on non-therapeutic surgeries, including declawing in cats
☑️ A prohibition on the use of gas chambers for euthanasia
☑️ Enhanced oversight of breeding, including a limit of 50 cats that can be kept by one person, the minimum age for breeding, a maximum number of litters per year, and a mandatory veterinary consultation prior to breeding
☑️ An obligation to provide daily enrichment to pets

Have you ever wondered how many toes do cats have?
Cats normally have eighteen toes: five toes on each front paw, and only four on the back ones. But once in a while, some felines are born with more than this usual number of toes and have a few extras. Sometimes the extra toe on the front paw has the appearance of a thumb, making the cat look as if it is wearing a mitten. These cats are known as mitten cats, although the official name is Polydactyl which is Greek in origin and has a meaning of many toes.
According to the Guinness World Records, the award for most toes on a cat is currently held by Jake, a male Canadian ginger tabby cat who has a total of 28 toes, seven on each paw.
