Dexter Puppy is an energetic 18-month-old neutered male German Shepherd/Labrador Retriever with perhaps a bit of Beagle. This happy-go-lucky boy had a rough start in life but that is all behind him now and Dexter is ready for his forever home. Dexter is friendly and sociable with everybody he meets, two-legged and four-legged. Dexter is extremely intelligent and eager-to-please. He would excel at agility or other canine sports. Dexter has outstanding leash manners for his age and travels quietly in the car. Dexter enjoys hiking, swimming, playing fetch and doing zoomies with the other dogs in his foster home. Dexter weighs 35-40 lbs. and is in excellent health. He is cuddly, affectionate and totally lovable!

Dexter is currently fostered at Missy Manor, we would love to find a worthy home on island.

A very important article about different ways to walk with a dog.

From the article:
"Many pet parents tend to look at dog walks as chores to be quickly finished, and I think part of the reason is they’re simply in a rut, and also not picturing life from their dog’s perspective. Sniffing isn’t just fun for dogs, it’s a necessity for them to feel connected to their environment".

It's important to your dog's physical and mental well-being that you give her lots of opportunities to sniff up a storm on her walks with you.

Pepper the hound is in need of a home after her recent placement didn't work out.

"We managed to find a home for her locally, however she is a little too high energy for them and after some long contemplation they’ve decided that they cannot give her the life that she deserves and needs.

She's really a beautiful, great dog, and really would flourish with a family or individual who is fit and active.

Can you guys still help find this pretty hound a home? We can try to get her down to the coast if you can."

❤️ Love your Pet Day ❤

Only 4 months ago those two watched the sun setting and now they look down from heaven, hopefully together, happy and free of pain with lots of squeaky toys and tennis balls. The time we have with our dogs is so limited and precious, life is so fragile and every day is a gift and an invitation to choose love and to discover all the beauty around us. Dogs seem to be really good at being in the moment. Do they know they just got so little time here and therefore they are so playful and full of enthusiasm?
Today is Love your pet day. So if you are lucky and share your life with an animal, let them know and follow their example. Do something you really enjoy, don't sweat the small things, go outside and feel the sun - yes we have a sunny day ahead here in BC, play, love, watch the sun set.
And love your pet, always!!
