To Our Dearest Libby, the happiest curmudgeon we've ever known.
You were, without a doubt, the most gloriously contradictory girl we ever had the privilege of serving; in life and after. You embodied the very essence of a Rottweiler: a powerful, imposing presence with a heart that was pure, unadulterated mush—most of the time.
Your grumpiness was legendary. The side-eye you'd give when anyone dared to interrupt your swim was a masterpiece of your highness' disapproval. You had a deep, rumbling bark that served as your universal commentary on life's minor inconveniences, whether it was another dog in the vicinity or one of us walking through the pool area while you swam. You were a serious dog, and you demanded that the world take you seriously, when it came to butt scratches.
But oh, when it was time for butt scratches, the sunshine of happiness that burst through was glorious. That deep, rumbling groan would transform into a happy sigh, and your serious face would dissolve into a goofy grin.
You were happiest with people and never did you get to study the 'How to be a dog' manual.
Bitu's Tuesdays and Fridays are quieter now, without anyone asking - is it ok to pass by? Is Libby coming in? One day you were her and the next you were gone. Nothing prepares one for this suddenness and we are all in a deep shock. Without the sound of your disapproving melodrama, your sudden bursts of ecstatic affection and the weekly cakes baked by your mom; Bitu's Aquafitness feels emptier.
Thank you, for trusting us and letting Indy help you with your mobility journey until the end. Thank you for being part of our lives and for bringing the most understanding and beautiful friendship in form of your mom and your aunt. You taught us that you don’t have to be outwardly cheerful all the time to feel joy. You taught us that grumpiness can coexist perfectly with a deep, unwavering loyalty and unconditional love.
Thank you Libby, for choosing us and granting us the honor of being able to guide you on your final journey across the Rainbow Bridge 🌈 You were and will remain the best girl and you will live on forever in our hearts 💕 Rest in peace sweet Libby... until we meet a
