I tried to find a single picture to add to this post to encompass our weekend at the Manitoba Pony Club regional championship. I failed at finding a single photo. Instead I found a photo album full of friendship, accomplishments, defeats, encouragement, and teamwork. I added a video of Kash and Em using their teamwork skills to empty the hay bag.
It may have been a pony club event but our barn rats shined through. We truly have such amazing kids. Every single time I talk about these kids my eyes tear up. I honestly cannot put into words how great they are.
Thank you to the parents for allowing us to teach and learn from your children. Every day spent with them teaches us a new word 😬, but most importantly it teaches us to be humble. Forgive when a mistake is made, learn from our experiences and grow from them.
No matter our age or experience, may we always leave space to learn and grow.
So… Brandi has twisted Marilyn’s arm and we have a new pony on the property.
Everyone meet Marble!
She is a 6 year old, 9HH pony!
As you can see.. she is smaller than the bale feeder. If the grass gets any longer, we may lose her.
Hannah and Kricket!
Kricket isn’t new to us but she is new to being ridden. She has only very recently been broke to ride.
She may be small but she is mighty.
She also isn’t the smallest horse on the property.
9pm.. my favourite time of day. The sun is setting. The temperature is dropping. It’s calm & quiet.
Emma 2024
Just Emma living her best life as a schoolie.
She loves her job!! 😜
*edited: owners have been found!!
Thank you!
Are any of our neighbors missing a palamino mare?
She’s rather sweet but is very much missing her home.
You can call us:
Marilyn- 204-724-6295
Brandi- 204-570-0706
Happy birthday to Marilyn!!
The Shetlands worked on their parts of the pony today AND they did it while using our Pony Tales program. They had no idea they were working on letter sounds, letter sight recognition, word recognition and matching.
Learning can be just that simple and FUN especially when a horse is involved.
You can try this game for yourself at the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair.
We will be in the Flynn Arena on the following days:
Monday 1-2pm
Tuesday 11:30am-12:30pm
Wednesday 11:30am-12:30pm
May you never get too old to stop and crunch the puddles.
It has taken me all day to come up with something to say about International Women’s Day. As an equestrian, women are at the forefront of the sport. With 99% of our own participants being of the female gender!
We are incredibly blessed to be surrounded by such powerful women here at Prairie Breeze, including the coaches, parents and participants. We have a unique environment and we choose every single day to foster an empowering atmosphere for the youth and model positive female friendships.
Strong women stand together when things are rough, hold eachother up when they need support and laugh together when there’s no reason to... and hold space for those who just need to be a chestnut mare for a day!
🐴 Boss Mare
Day #9
LIKE A RHINESTONE COWBOY..
I bet you sang that..
None other than BNE diamond cowboy otherwise known as Zep.
Zep came to us in 2007 when he was only 5 months old. He was originally bred for barrels and Kyle’s going to use him for roping.. but speed isn’t his strong suit.
Lovingly known as Eeyore, Zep is typically slow and steady. Well usually.. ask Brandi about her first canter on Zep. It was NOT planned.
Zep is basically bomb proof. He is calm, chill and loving. Brandi even rode him in her wedding in 2015.
Stats:
Age: 16
Breed: quarter horse
Colour: grey
Day #7
The other half of the frat party.. Sky!
Sky is fairly serious and loves his job.. unless he is with Kitt. Then the lesson turns into a party.
Sky came to us only a few years ago. He was here for the winter and we just had to have him!
Sky has been a priceless addition to our lessons. He has taught many to canter and jump. He loves to work and loves to go fast. He will teach you whether you are ready or not.
Despite being here for a short time he has snuggled his way into the hearts of many. He is playful, trusting and a leader of his herd.
Stats:
Age: 22
Breed: Welsh
Colour: Bay roan
Be sure to check back tomorrow for the oldest in the herd! Not that he needs an introduction.
Day #5 of our month long series of getting to know the horses at Prairie Breeze Stable. Freya is a Belgian- quarter horse cross and has been with us since birth. She resides in the outside herd with her mom and sister who we will meet at a later date. Freya has one of the smoothest canters and is a gentle giant. Share your Freya love below!!
