This is Chai ☕️ 🤎🖤🤍
Check out this stunningly beautiful tabby! We are absolutely obsessed with her bengal-like markings 😻Chai prefers the company of humans over felines and enjoys her own space away from the other cats at the shelter.
This mild-mannered girl enjoys being active and would love for someone to throw toys to her or shake a wand at her all the time. She really enjoyed the catio in the summer since she loves soaking up the beauty of nature. Chai would thrive in a home where she has access to the great outdoors, but can also curl up in a sunny window to bask in warm sunbeams. She enjoys cuddles and pets and if you’re the lucky person to adopt her, she’ll make you happy you did 🥹 She will make such a loving companion.
If you think your home could be the purr-fect fit for this charming girl, contact us to come meet Chai!😻

This is Pete 🧡🐈
So, we’ll be honest: it’s confusing to us that Pete is still here! Somehow no one has really shown interest in this sweet boy and there have been 0 adoption forms submitted for him. 😭💔 We thought, given his adorable little cleft lip, his little chirps, and his beautiful colouring that he would be adopted in a hurry. But, he’s still here at the shelter.
For a few different reasons, Pete is such a funny cat. To begin with, he has the most expressive face. Intentional or not, you can often look over at Pete and burst out laughing with his “meme-like” expressions. Next, Pete is kind of like Bambi with his baby deer-like qualities. You know how cats always land on their feet? Not Pete 😂 He somehow manages to get himself all tied up in knots and is often just really not a graceful cat! Finally, Pete doesn’t really know how to cuddle. He wants to, but because of his Bambi-like qualities, holding him is kind of like holding several bags of groceries: heavier than they appear and hard to get balanced 😆 We’re sure that with lots of practice, he will be an expert cuddler in no time.
Pete is very playful and you can often find him batting a toy around or chasing another cat. While he can keep to himself, he definitely leans more to the social side, so will likely fit right in at whatever loving home he ends up in.
If you’re interested in a funny, fun-loving cat who will surely bring you daily entertainment, contact us to come meet Pete!😻

This is Raven 🐦⬛🖤
This gorgeous black cat, who has been with us for way too long, is desperate to find her own home. Raven is sort of the unofficial queen of the cat room and she makes sure the other cats know if they’re in her designated spot of choice. Like a true monarch, she gets what she wants, so if that includes your lap, well, it’s a sacrifice you’re going to have to make for Raven’s happiness. She LOVES a good cuddle, on her terms, and she’s a bit greedy about it as she clings to you like a boa constrictor. 😹 And don’t worry, she’ll let you know when she’s had enough; don’t take it personally, queens can be temperamental! Raven has a tendency to be fiery when overstimulated or uninterested. She does well with most of the other cats because she simply tolerates their presence. She isn’t overly playful, but has her moments, and she has an absolutely majestic, regal high jump. So, since winter is on its way and the evenings are a little darker, why not welcome this beautiful girl into your home to be your faithful companion? Contact us to come meet Raven!🖤😻

🌟 A heartfelt thank you from Luigi! 🌟
Hello,
I would like to say thank you to all the wonderful people in the town of Killarney for helping me reunite with my family.
I went from feeling scared and alone to feeling so loved and so welcomed. I'm so happy to be a part of such a great community and to have such a loving family to call my own.
I would also like to thank all the other people that cared so much and helped in other ways like sharing my "lost" post on social media. I heard the information got around fast!
Thanks everyone!
-Luigi❤️
We can't say enough about how amazing the people of Killarney are for coming together to help return a beloved pet to his new family. They epitomize what a community should be. We at the shelter can’t thank you enough for your support! We know that Dave, Kim and Madisyn are also very grateful for all of the support that they received 🐾💖

🐾 Meet Nyx! 🐾
Nyx came into rescue shortly after her puppies were brought in. For the first couple of months, she wouldn’t let anyone touch her, but over time, she slowly warmed up to the shelter staff and a few dedicated volunteers who spent countless hours earning her trust. They would sit quietly with her, toss treats her way, and eventually offer gentle pats.
Nyx is still learning a lot about trust and adjusting to new experiences, like car rides and walking on a leash. She’s still shy around new people, but with a little patience, her sweet personality shines through. Because Nyx is considered a flight risk, she needs a home with a fenced yard and would likely thrive in a home with another dog to help her build confidence. She has shown that she gets along well with every dog she meets and truly loves being around them - they help her come out of her shell. Nyx is adored by many, and she’s sure to win over her future family, too.
Please note: Anyone wishing to adopt Nyx will need to visit multiple times until she learns to trust them. She takes time to feel comfortable around new people, so her adopter will need to be patient and understanding that the adoption process may be longer than with other dogs.
If you would like to meet this sweet girl, please contact the shelter to arrange a meet and greet, and learn more about Nyx and her specific needs.
‼️‼️UPDATE- LUIGI IS HOME SAFE!! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SHARED THIS POST AND KEPT AN EYE OUT FOR LUIGI!!‼️‼️
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Luigi has been adopted but got off his leash after he got startled by something and is now missing.
He lives outside of Killarney. If anybody sees him, please let us know or try to get him home safely.
Sweet boy is in a brand new place so we're sure he's very nervous and anxious to get back to his family.

Let's help Piper find her forever home! 🐾💚
This unique-looking girl has been searching for a loving family for over a year, and there’s truly no good reason for her to still be waiting. Piper is currently in foster care and occasionally visits the shelter for play days to socialize ( she loves her shelter friends!).
Active and adventurous, she loves going for walks and hikes, but don’t be surprised if she also seeks out a cozy cuddle session! Piper is sweet, smart, and anyone would be lucky to call her their own. Thanks to her amazing foster mom, she has learned so much. Piper enjoys car rides, gets along well with kids, and adores every dog she meets.
She hardly ever barks unless startled, which makes her an even more appealing companion. It’s hard to understand why she has been overlooked for so long - she’s truly a catch! If you’re considering adding a lovable member to your family, please meet Piper. She won’t disappoint, it’s time for her to find a home to call her own! 😍
Contact us today to meet Piper and fill out an adoption application. Let’s find her a loving home!
From us at the Brandon Humane Society to you, HAPPY HALLOWEEN! We hope everybody has a wonderful night. Make sure you keep your candy treasures away from your pets to keep them safe.
Does this mean Christmas is around the corner? Have you heard about our 50/50? Check it out!

Rescue’s are bursting at the seams. This includes our city pound. Everyday we have multiple phone calls about surrendering animals and it breaks our hearts not to be able to help because we are already so full. Sammy has been at the pound for a really long time . He deserves a home of his own. If you would like to meet Sammy please reach out to the Brandon City Brandon City Pound (204-728-3260)
🆕New: Brandon City Pound: A lost pet is now available for adoption. *REPOST. Sammy is our certified large breed lap dog, who was surrendered two months ago due to not being good with young kids. He's the realest "man's best friend" to ever live. An angel in dog's clothing if you will. We encourage anyone who feels they could provide him a good home to set up an adoption meeting, but for his comfort we will not place him in a home with young children. Sammy has allergies, but we are unsure what he's allergic to. He's is an Olympic level fetch spectator, meaning he loves to watch you throw, chase, and fetch the ball, while he snacks and comments on how easy it looks. His ideal day is lounging wherever his people are (preferably on top of them) while they tell him he's such a handsome, sweet, goofy, good boy. Fair warning: if he's sitting on someone and you call his name to take a picture, he takes it as an invite and moves over to your lap.* Please refer to https://www.brandon.ca/pound/details.php?id=1509 for detailed information.

It was a fun-filled night, with amazing talent, great food and terrific company!

🐾Meet Bravo!🐾
This guy arrived at the shelter with his siblings Echo and Yankee. He quickly captured the hearts of the volunteers with his calm and affectionate personality. Currently, he shares a room with his sister Echo, and the two are inseparable best friends. While they enjoy playing with the other dogs in their group, you can often find them taking breaks together to relax.
Bravo would be a wonderful addition to almost any family. He’s gentle and calm around kids, and he absolutely loves belly rubs and ear scratches from anyone willing to offer them. A quick learner, Bravo knows how to sit on command and walks well on a leash.
If you would like to meet this sweet boy, please contact the shelter to arrange a meet and greet. 💙 Bravo is eagerly waiting for his forever family!
Contact us today to meet Bravo and fill out an adoption application. Let’s find him a loving home!
This is Willa🤍🩶
Before she came to us with her two kittens, Whip and Wesley, Willa (just shy of being 1 year old 😭💔) was at the pound with her 4 babies.
She was obviously very scared and very protective at first, but since being with us, she has finally had time to be a kitten herself 🥹 She can often be found playing with her boys (she still loves spending time with them and grooming them) and especially loves a wand or catnip toy. She’s getting braver around other cats and is accepting more pets all the time from our volunteers. It’s so nice to see her settled and content! 🩷
If you’re interested in a beautiful (and incredibly soft!) cat, and will have patience while she comes out of her shell, please contact us to meet Willa! (And maybe her two boys, too!) Check out this adorable little family playing together in the 4th picture 😻

We are incredibly grateful for the amazing volunteers who helped build a brand-new play structure for the dogs and puppies at the Humane Society! 🐾❤️ This wouldn't have been possible without the generous support and contributions from Brandon Area Community Foundation, the Neelin High School Youth in Philanthropy (YIP) program, and other wonderful donors. Thanks to your kindness, our furry friends have a fantastic new space to play, learn, and enjoy themselves. We truly appreciate everyone who made this project a reality. The dogs are loving it, and so are we! 🐶🎉

Smudge, our handsome gentleman in his tux, just received some well-deserved media attention! (Thanks, @ctvwinnipeg for highlighting our boy, our manager Tracy, and our shelter ❤️)
Here are some facts about Smudge:
🖤He is just over 4 years old
🖤He has been at the shelter for almost 3.5 years
🖤His two sisters, Presley and Pringle have already been adopted
🖤He’s fine with other cats, but definitely enjoys the catio, where he can curl up in a cat tree on his own (he is definitely a bit of an introvert)
🖤 He’s a GREAT hunter and mouser (the perfect friend to have around during the colder months ahead)
🖤 He has the cutest little pink nose and the long, lanky look of a Siamese, which, combined with his tuxedo, makes him our stealth, James Bond
While Smudge has bonded with staff and regular volunteers, he would thrive with a family of his own. He is definitely overdue for his furever home 🥹 If you can understand that he may take a bit of time to come out of his shell, but will be your loyal companion forever, please contact us to come see Smudge!

Please Help Brandon Humane Society
Hey everyone 😊 We are reaching out to the community once again for some help adding to our food trailer. As you can see in the video (which I admit isn't the best) we are in DESPERATE need to fill a DESPERATE need in the community. We are always in awe of the generosity that the people of Brandon and those in surrounding areas show the shelter and to those that benefit from our services. I know that the support we are given for programs such as the Community Feeding Program and others, comes from the heart. Thank you again for any help that comes our way, even if you think it is small we know it is HUGE 😍

The Brandon Humane Society has been in operation since 1946 when it was founded by Eleanor Kidd. She originally housed the Shelter in her garage on 13th Street, then in an abandoned stable near Empress Bay, and later in an old barn near the riverbank where Eleanor Kidd Gardens are now located.
In 1997, the Shelter moved to its new premise at 2200 17th Street East. These days, our residents - both cats and dogs - live in a building with heat and air conditioning , two large exercise yards, an enclosed cat patio, and kennels for approximately 30 cats and 30 dogs at any one time. When our kennels are full our dedicated volunteers foster animals in their homes.
Since we are a NO KILL Shelter, the atmosphere is very positive...our animals are loved and well cared for as they wait to be adopted. We invite you to come and visit to see for yourselves.
Staff and Volunteers
The Shelter Manager/Director is Tracy Munn who has been a dedicated leader ensuring the operations are carried out holding the best interest of the animals in highest regard since 1997. The Assistant Manager is Jillian Blyth who has held this position starting in August 2016 but has been a regular volunteer since 2005.
The Shelter has a wonderful and dedicated pool of approximately 70 volunteers who all play an important part carrying out the regular tasks needed to care for the animals. Our volunteers also organize many of fundraising activities and special events.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please stop by the Shelter to pick up an application.
Board of Directors
The Shelter is governed by a volunteer board of directors. Each director serves a two year term with elections held every year for half of the positions. Our current Board of Directors for the 2017-2018 year is:
PRESIDENT: Lex Langston
VICE PRESIDENT: Ken Pettapiece
TREASURER: Bonnie Hertzog
FUNDRAISING COORDINATOR: Jenny Chatt
SECRETARY: Chelsea McCrimmon
MEMBERS AT LARGE: Marty Kauk, Erin Woak, Kelly Malchuck, Farran LeBlanc
