Safety First! Whether it's a pool, boat, lake, or beach, always keep a close eye on your furry friends around water. Life jackets can provide an extra layer of protection for our water-loving pals.

It's hot out there! Are you taking the proper precautions to keep your pets safe?
Pets can get heat stroke which can be life threatening. Some things to watch for:
▪️Excessive panting & drooling
▪️Red, dry or sticky gums
▪️Difficulty breathing
▪️Weakness or collapse
▪️Seizures
Brachycephalic breeds such as Bulldogs, Boxers, pugs, and Shih Tzus, are more prone to overheating due to their compromised airways.

Some tips for navigating the extreme heat with your pets:
*Provide plenty of water and shade while they are outside.
*Keep walks very short and on grassy areas.
*Avoid walking on asphalt due to the hot temperatures in the heat.
*Refrain from exercising your dogs during the sun's peak.
*Apply pet safe sunscreen if your pet has light skin or a pink nose.

🚙 HBR is in desperate need of volunteer drivers! 🚙

Do you like to drive? We are in need of drivers across Ontario to help transport dogs to their foster homes and some supply runs to different fosters. This is an important position! Without transport we could miss out on a vital situation where a dog needs rescue but we are unable to get to them! 🩷

If you sign up to be a driver you are able to choose which transports you can help with. And longer transports may be broken up between multiple drivers. At the end of the year you submit receipts and mileage and HBR will send you a tax receipt that you can use for donation purposes on your taxes. 🐾
