SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
THURSDAY AUGUST 10th
7:00 PM. – Royal Canadian Legion Br. #65, Brigus, will be hosting the Great Screech-In with 97.5 K-Rock’s JLaC to kick off the Blueberry festival. Music by The Parsons Boys. Doors open at 7:00, Screech-ins starting at 8:00. Tickets $10, available at the Legion or by calling 709-528-4443. 19 years and above Only
FRIDAY AUGUST 11th
2:00 PM – 4:00 PM – Kids activities and bouncy castles on festival grounds. Compliments of the Brigus Recreation Committee & Independent Fish Harvesters Inc. 6:30 PM – Opening ceremonies at the festival grounds, with guest speakers and a performance of the Ode to Newfoundland and O Canada!
7:00 PM – Blueberry Festival Kitchen Party at the Recreation Centre. Sponsored by The Brigus Blueberry Festival Group. Music by The Islanders. Free admission, donations to the Ronald McDonald House will be accepted at the door.
9:30 PM – Friday Night Dance at the Recreation Centre and giant tent. 19 years & older. Music by Midlife Crisis. Tickets will be made available for purchase at the Brigus Recreation Center 1 PM on Sunday August 6th, $10 each, limit 4 per person.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 12th – GATES OPEN AT 11 AM Festival Site Admission (bracelet) Passes $5, Children 5 and under free. Bracelet must be worn to gain admittance.
10:00 AM – Parade forming at the Legion, leaving at 10:30 AM. Antique Vehicles, Floats, etc. Service Groups and Youth Groups are all invited.
11:00 AM – 5:30 PM – Folk festival, Raffles, Craft Stalls, Baked Goods, Games of Skill, Food, Beer Tent, etc. Fun and Games for all ages! (All activities to be held at the Blueberry Festival Grounds, next to Wilcox Gardens). Multicultural food available in the Recreation center.
2:30 PM - Pie Eating Contest. Limited number of entrants, 1st come 1st served! Cutting and serving of the giant three-foot blueberry pie to follow at the Recreation Center (free!)
6:30 PM – Missed Blueberry Pageant. Contestants wanted. Registration deadline Saturday at 3:00 PM.
9:30 PM - Adult dance at the Recreation Centre and giant tent. 19 years & older. Music by Bic & the Ballpoints. Tickets will be made available for purchase at the Brigus Recreation Center 1 PM on Sunday August 6th, $15 each, limit 4 per person.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 13th – GATES OPEN AT 11 AM 11:00 AM (bracelet) Passes $5 – Folk festival, Raffles, Craft Stalls, Baked Goods, Games of Skill, Food, Beer Tent, etc. Fun and Games for all ages! 5:30 PM – Loonie Dash, out of province draw and ticket draws.
9:00 PM (approx.) – Fireworks at Brigus waterfront. 10:00 PM - Disco Dance (Donation to the Janeway for entry). Dale Saunders is performing. 19 years & older.
