A couple points about parvo;

- it’s a disease that attacks only puppies.
- adult dogs can carry and spread parvo with no symptoms.
- puppies are born with some natural immunity to parvo (if their mother is vaccinated). The first vaccination your puppy receives will cancel out the natural immunity while it’s not until the second vaccine the puppy is mostly protected and the third vaccine for full protection.
- vaccines need about 7 days to become effective.
- parvo can live in the soil and survive the frost.
- parvo is almost always deadly.

It’s important to keep your new puppy away from unvaccinated dogs and areas where lots of dogs get together (dog park ect). You can still socialize your puppy but stay away from high traffic areas until fully vaccinated.
