Harper working on the basics of our training program.
Sit + eye contact = release command + reward.
Notice how there is also a little pause when I give her a direction (sit or break). Lots of dogs will do this when they are first learning something new. She is taking a few seconds to think about what to do next and instead of prompting her again right away I’m letting her take those extra seconds. It’s a good thing that she’s pausing to think, it means she’s building impulse control and really taking the time to get it right (so she can get the food of course), but we are building habits and muscle memory that will carry over into everything else.
So if you’re teaching your dog something new make sure to be patient and let them exercise their brain. #pawsforwarddogtraining #goldenretriever

Some essentials that I always add on to the e collar #minieducator #ecollar #pawsforwarddogtraining #dogtraining #ontariodogs #dogtrainer
JoJo working on ringing her potty bells. I first rewarded her for any interaction with the bells. Second I rewarded her only when her interaction caused the bells to chime and here I’m adding the verbal cue “bells” and just saying it when she rings them. Next I will only reward her if she rings the bells when I say “bells”. Puppies are so smart ❤️ #pawsforwarddogtraining #dogtraining #pottybells #ontariodogs #pottytraining #puppy #puppytraining
Daisy working on place. Great example of a verbal correction at the beginning with Daisy showing a clear understanding. She’s so much more engaged! #pawsforwarddogtraining #dogtraining #minischnauzer #dogtrainer #ontariodogs
