We had absolutely amazing lessons this weekend with Canadian Olympian Megan Lane πŸ‘β€οΈπŸ‘.
The first photo is Kim Penny on the right with her beauty queen mare Svenya (sp?) going into their lesson and me (Carol) on the left with my mare Surprise just after our lesson. I'm blaming fatigue for forgetting to get Megan in the photo 😩. These two mares tied for reserve champion at their Hannoverian foal inspection and here they are reunited in a clinic seven years later 😍 As Megan watched Kim riding Svenya she said that she's a "top, top quality mare". Pretty cool coming from an Olympian! Both Kim and I were very happy with the great lessons and progress we made at the clinic.
The next photo is Sophia Shanks riding her sweet four year old mare, with Megan instructing. This mare has the brain we all dream of - nothing bothers her! These two started their flying changes at the clinic and achieved impressive results.
We were treated to so much great learning - Megan is incredibly knowledgeable and along with that has a wonderful gift for teaching. She puts everything she has into teaching, going well beyond our allotted time and helping each rider progress. We look forward to more great clinics with Megan in the future!

We welcome Canadian dressage Olympian Megan Lane back on October 16 & 17, organized by Jo Duston. This clinic is full but there will be more in the future. Megan is quite simply outstanding in her knowledge and ability to assist all horses and riders ❀️

Results for the Nova Scotia Equestrian Federation Scotia Series competitions are posted. To our dressage competitors - please check your results before October 13 when results will be finalized. It was so good to be having competitions again πŸ‘β€οΈ

Scotia Series results are available on the NSEF website (www.horsenovascotia.ca/Results) for review throughout the season and now that all results are available, we ask competitors to give them one last check for any entry errors.

REVIEW PERIOD CLOSES WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 13th! Adjustments to results will take place after this date and Award Winners will be sent invitations after results are finalized (tentatively the week of October 25th)

When checking results, please take note of the following:
-The points in the District Standings only include those results which are eligible for year end awards calculations. For example, meeting minimum qualification standards, maximum number of classes per class type eligible for award calculations, and it is based on points not the placings. (Competitors can use the "Search in Results" box to see the other results)
-The points may be adjusted as updates are made (i.e. if a class size is incorrect). Standings may also change. These may change after the review closes as it will take time to verify and correct any concerns.
-If a competitor is listed with two horses who are the same horse, it could affect whether or not they qualify or their point totals, so please contact the NSEF Office if this is the case.
-If a horse name is spelt incorrectly contact the NSEF Office!

Concerns, please email Sheila at [email protected] or 902-425-5450 ext 337

I want to thank the wonderful team we had for delivering a great show weekend ❀️. Audrey Nelson is an amazing scribe and didn't miss a beat all weekend. Nancy Hynes did scoring on Sunday. Thank you sooo much for volunteering Audrey and Nancy!
Marissa McIsaac received many accolades for her fair and consistent judging, and Maria Porter pitched in as caller when needed. Maria also brought the best baby who we all took turns holding 😍 Doug and Rachel shared gate and steward duties and kept everything running smoothly and on time πŸ‘πŸ‘ Carole made sure our horses were well looked after and not causing trouble while the show went on πŸ˜…
My next post will be all about the kind, supportive, and hard working riders. Here are a few photos, some with little stories.

Babes and bridles πŸ’œ. Today was Rachel's last day of work for th he summer so we had a little party. Rachel is holding Isaac and Maria Porter's baby Oliver, who just might be the best baby ever.
Rachel makes a huge contribution here. She'll be back for our Scotia Series dressage competition on Sept. 18 & 19 so I managed to hold myself together πŸ˜„πŸ‘

We had a fun morning at the farm. Rachel, Amanda and I had our last ride together of the summer, before Rachel goes back to university. Amanda, left, is riding Diotima, Rachel is on Rogo and I'm on Diotima's daughter Surprise. Both Rachel and Amanda are making great progress with their riding.
Then Doug headed out for a drive on his Harley and visiting in the city with family and friends.
Loving these late summer days 😍

Congratulations to Margie Corkum Abando on her Equestrian Canada video series first place finish in para dressage, riding at Five Fires Dressage Centre on our horse Elixer (Lix). Margie won her division and was also the over all high point champion for leg four of the series.
Margie also won her division in leg one and two of the series riding our horse Rogo.
The competition is stiff, with many scores in the high sixties and seventies. Margie even scored higher than one of Canada's para Olympic riders πŸ‘πŸ‘.
Please see the comments for the Equestrian Canada Facebook post highlighting Margie and Rogo, with links to scores and more information about the series.
Well done Margie, Lix and Rogo! ❀️ And thank you so much for the kind words Margie.
Lix was trained to his current level by Maria Porter and Rogo was / is trained by Carol Macomber. Margie is able to ride these different horses and show them to their best ability, not an easy task! We're very happy to be able to support Margie in her para dressage accomplishments.

I want to thank Jo Duston for organizing this awesome Megan Lane clinic, all of the riders for the positive, supportive, fun environment, the auditors who at Jo's request brought donations to the SPCA instead of an audit fee, and most of all Megan for motivating, inspiring and guiding us to better rides with tools to take home ❀️.
