Rest easy, sweet Chelsea girl. My deepest condolences to her family for their loss. I was so grateful to have her as part of our Little Step Pets family. I don't pretend to understand the forces of pet care, but I was notified of Chelsea's passing this morning, and coincidentally, my first home stay with her was at this exact time last year. I will treasure her beautiful smile and our adventures together. ♥️

In today's Toronto Sun, Ontario SPCA President and CEO Charmain Brett takes a hard look at an issue many Ontarians are worried about — the growing gap in access to veterinary care.

Rising costs, long drives for basic care, and families being forced to surrender pets they love are symptoms of a larger problem. What’s missing from the headlines is a deeper conversation about what comes next.

In her piece, Charmaine argues that we need to rethink how veterinary care is delivered. Keeping pets and their families together isn’t just an animal welfare issue — it’s an equity issue that speaks to who we are as a society.

Her op-ed calls for bold, collaborative action to create a future where access to veterinary care isn’t determined by income or geography.

⏰ Don’t forget to ‘fall back’ this weekend! ‼️

Daylight Saving Time officially ends on Sunday, November 2nd at 2:00 AM, so make sure to set your clocks back one hour before heading to bed on Saturday night.

This small time change may seem harmless, but it can actually throw off your sleep schedule and leave you feeling a little sluggish. It’s the perfect excuse to catch up on some extra rest and take it easy, especially if you’re driving, since studies have shown a spike in accidents right after the time change.

Most phones, computers, and smart devices will update automatically, but don’t forget about the ones that won’t, like your alarm clocks, microwaves, ovens, and car dashboards.

With the switch back to Standard Time, the sun will now set around 5:00 PM across much of Ontario. That means shorter days, longer nights, and the official end of those brighter evening hours until spring returns.

This weekend is also a great reminder to check and replace the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to help keep your home safe.

And just like that, it's Archie season again. 🤗

We haven't seen each other since last winter. When you're a pet sitter/dog walker, the seasons have pets, and I think it's my favourite part of the job. The reunions are fun and bring back fond memories of our past adventures in all kinds of weather. 💕
