For the past two decades, Headon Forest Animal Hospital has been providing quality veterinary care to the dogs and cats of Burlington and exceptional service to their loving owners (parents). We are a full service veterinary hospital offering comprehensive and compassionate healthcare, modern equipment and friendly, knowledgeable staff. We are proud of the high level of care we provide and strive

to proactively help our patients live healthier, longer lives. The American Animal Hospital Association is the only organization that accredits companion animal veterinary hospitals in North America. To become accredited by AAHA, our hospital must demonstrate an exceptional level of medical care and client service, and be measured against the most rigorous standards in the veterinary industry. This is an additional accreditation that is voluntary to those who strive for excellence and a higher standard of care for your pets. Only about 12% of animal hospitals in the U.S. and Canada are accredited by AAHA, and we're proud to say that we're one of them!

Cats that ingest even a small portion of leaves or even the pollen can suffer severe kidney failure. Symptoms can develop in 6-12 hours of exposure.

March is Pet Poison Awareness Month!

Xylitol is a natural sweetener used in many products and is highly toxic to dogs, affecting liver function. It can be found in many sugar-free products like gum, candies, peanut butter, protein bars. It is also used in personal care products like toothpaste, mouthwash, dental floss, rinses, nasal sprays and throat lozenges.
It is important that if you suspect your dog has ingested xylitol that they get care immediately! Full recovery is possible if treated early and aggressively.

Congratulations to the entire Headon Forest Team!

We are happy to announce that we have once again received our GOLD Cat Friendly Practice Certification.

The American Association of Feline Practitioners awards a certification of Cat Friendly Practice® to veterinary practices who meet a list of specific criteria. Overall, it means that we take the comfort and care of your feline family members very seriously, and strive to give them the most low-stress experience possible at our practice.

Thank you to our lead RVT, Carley for guiding our team through our Cat Friendly certification renewal. We appreciate you so much and are all very grateful for your hard work and dedication.

We’re almost in Heartworm Season!

As the season approaches, many of our clients have already started to book their yearly heartworm and tick tests. As apart of our ongoing commitment to our clients and their furry family members, we have opened our schedule on Saturday April 20th for heartworm and tick testing with our technician team.

If Saturday works best for you with your busy schedule, please contact our reception team at 905-332-4014 to schedule your pet for their heartworm and tick test while appointments last.

**Please note there will be no Veterinarian in the building and any additional medical inquiries or concerns will not be able to be addressed at this appointment. Additionally, if your pet is due for their annual examination and vaccinations, the heartworm and tick test will be performed during that appointment***

Pictured above is Max being the bravest boy for his heartworm and tick test!

Did you know by the age of three, most dogs and cats have some degree of dental disease?

Early prevention and detection of your pet’s dental disease is vital for ensuring the best quality of life for your pet.

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing the utmost care and well-being for your furry family member, we are excited to offer complimentary oral health examinations performed by our Registered Veterinary Technicians.

During your appointment, one of our registered veterinary technicians will consult with you and your pet, perform an oral health examination, and create a prevention plan suited to your pet’s individual needs.

Please call us to book your complimentary oral heath assessment with one of our Registered Veterinary Technicians.

Taking a moment to appreciate our whole staff on this
However, we are going to focus on a couple of key people on our staff, our team leads! Katie is our reception lead, Carley is our technician lead and Carolyn is our Medical Director! Their leadership and hard work are an example for the team and, while they keep us in line, they always do so with a smile on their faces! Thank you for all you do for our staff, clients and pet patients!

IT'S DENTAL HEALTH MONTH!
Get ahead of the game and work with our veterinary team to create a lifelong prevention plan for your pet. It's never too late to start!
1) Daily brushing is best but proper products are essential. Toothpaste for humans is not recommended because it may upset your pet´s stomach.
2) Proper nutrition - ask us about specially formulated foods with proven benefits in plaque and tartar removal
3) Regular veterinary checkups & cleanings as changes in your pet's mouth can happen quickly.
