The peony window is upon us… love this time of year!

This weather is amazing! The greenhouse is popping with lots of great plants for your home gardens. Heirloom varieties af tomatoes & peppers- some herbs, zinnias, cucumbers, squashes and some perennials like iris and currants. I pulled out the old coffee percolator ready to put on because good conversations go well will plants & coffee! This is a favorite day for us to see our friends, colleagues, neighbours and local folks who are gardening enthusiasts- and nature lovers. This coming Saturday 8am- 5pm our gates are open so stop in to visit our little slice of paradise at Twiss💚

The forest is coming alive! Garlic mustard clusters loved the rain this week and along came some warm sunshine to harvest today. Perfect day in all ways💕

This was a first for us this year because couldn’t resist planting something called Crazy Apples! They are a surprising sweet root that fresh are tangy apple/citrus/mango flavor for salad and dehydrated as chips are soooo sweet I’m switching from potato chips- with actual health benefits. Peru is the origin of these so similar to Dahlia’s we are digging up to store for the winter. Didn’t really want to take that part on but today is a sunny warmish window. Feels good to be outside!

Garlic braids are under way- harvested the last of the lavendar & russian sage that’s in full bloom for them. The workshop smells soooo good!

Planting edamame & getting market garden beds done…. we took a look around this morning and garlic is looking good! Scapes are just around the corner. The rye fields have shot up this past week and grains are all coming up! I just love spring- wish there were just a few more hours in a day.

Our farm is open for Saturday, May 21st, for plant sales & the vintage Barn Sale. We’re having a lot of fun with this! Meeting new people, and having amazing help from friends of the farm to make it happen! It’s truly wonderful medicine to talk ‘growing’ with folks and hearing about the great spaces they’re planning to put these babies💚

We’re busy potting up our starts, and getting beds ready, some flowers going in, and the greenhouse is popping at the seams…. It is wonderful to spend time foraging in the forest here just to remember who’s really behind it all💚

Tilling in the cover crop for garlic planting next weekend, dogs lying around, picking rocks out of the field, and they wonder when it’s dinner time! Our dogs have written their own script about being farm dogs and they are quite happy with it!

Seems that trenching has been our theme this summer. First the greenhouse for amenities and now a new pump out by the cottage and a new electrical line. Our holiday is coming to an end so filling this thing in is this weekend. The weather is perfect for being in the fields and also the trenches so timing couldn’t be better!
