Help save a turtle!🐢

The other day I saw a Painted Turtle on the road. Naturally, I stopped to help thinking I could just give him a lift off the road. Unfortunately, he was more injured than I realized so I contacted the Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre and found out that one of their volunteer veterinarians was nearby! I transported him to her. She was kind enough to show me some turtle first aid, including assessing & documenting his injuries, rehydrating him, administer a pain medication injection, and bandaging up his carapace (the top of his shell).

I learned that he will be transported to the Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre for further veterinary care, and if he does well, then further rehab & recovery...then maybe even release back to the wild!

It is so important to help conserve our native species, so if you see a turtle on the road, and it is safe to do so please stop to help!
