Our last student, Comet, went home today to conclude our outdoor training. Just in time for the cold weather to stay!! ☃️

I’d like to extend a big giant THANK YOU to everyone who was part of our program this year, and past years. It is so rewarding for me to help everyone in their horsemanship goals. This year was extremely fulfilling and jam packed full of awesome projects and clients. Our books were filled throughout the entire season and I cannot express how grateful I am for all of you.

💯🙌
YES! Louder!
This sport is hard enough, let’s normalize being supportive and kind to each other. Instead of talking down about our fellow horse people who are trying their best. We’ve ALL been there. Let’s keep people in the horse world instead of pushing them away.

Stop giving your money to trainers who talk down to you, and make you feel like sh*t 😫🙅‍♀️

I don’t know about you, but I’m sick and tired of the trainer/client (trainer/student) dynamic that has been standardized and is continuing to the day to be accepted.

Why do we allow trainers to speak down to us?

Why is it okay for them to make us feel bad for making mistakes or being human?

Why are we accepting open ridicule, belittling, gaslighting, and worse from professionals we pay to teach us?

I can tell you I don’t accept it anymore. 🙅‍♀️

And you shouldn’t either!

If your trainer…

• makes you cry
• makes fun of you or your horse
• talks down to you
• makes disparaging remarks about you, your horse, or your riding
• talks about you behind your back
• yells at you
• throws things or in any way loses their temper around you or your horse
• or is in general unsupportive and negative

You need to be giving your hard earned money and precious time to someone else. No ifs ands or buts.

I don’t care how popular of a trainer they are, how many medals they’ve won, how fancy their horses are, or who says they are the “best”.

You and your horse deserve better. 🫵

T-shirt weather today, on November 8th! ☀️
It was such a lovely afternoon riding my personal horses, as lessons and training are winding down for the season. The nine hours of daylight felt too brief.

Ready for her life as a performance horse -
Arabesque is a registered Friesan Sport Horse mare. She is two years old, and ready to go in any direction. Has not been backed yet but has had all of the ground work preparation. She is accepting of the saddle and bridle, with a basic concept of giving to rein cues. She yields to pressure, lunges and sends through and over obstacles, loads and ties. She is intelligent and thoughtful. Well handled and has manners. Her Dam is our Zoom.
She is confident, and gorgeous. You will get noticed with this one!

“It's said that All Hallows' Eve is one of the nights when the veil between the worlds is thin - and whether you believe in such things or not, those roaming spirits probably believe in you, or at least acknowledge your existence, considering that it used to be their own. Even the air feels different on Halloween, autumn-crisp and bright.”

Happy Halloween! 🎃

Sawatzky Equine C**t Starting School 2024 has reached its completion! 🥳
Salem has grown in to a really dependable guy and learnt lots through the program. I am so excited for our future together! He is so willing and goofy, I am honoured to be astride this boy.
The program that Sawatzky Equine puts on is so comprehensive, so complete, and so valuable. I have expanded my skills and knowledge exponentially and made new friends along the way.
This was my second time doing the course and I would do it again. If you’re considering it, I say DO IT!
What a whirlwind six weeks this has been!! 🐴

Our Story

I have lived with horses my entire life. There are a part of who I am and life just isn’t the same without them. As I am sure many of you know all too well what I am talking about. We are dedicated to our sport with the drive to always be better for our equine partner. Whether it be for competition or just to go out and enjoy riding. Here you will find a positive community all with the same goal in mind. Helping you enjoy your time with your horse.

Through my training program horses will gain confidence and strength. I truly communicate with these horses in a way that they understand so when the time comes for them to go home, the truly know what is expected of them. Understanding and communication is a big piece of the partnership. Of course you want to succeed with your horse, that is why I include lessons as part of your training experience. So you can go home and also understand the how’s and why’s of the process. The type of training I do ranges from c**t starting, western and english, to jumping training, to kid proofing, confidence building and problem solving. Additionally, I am now including rehabilitation in my program.

Coaching is one of my favorite things. I love seeing the immediate improvement in riders when I explain that one thing missing from the overall picture. Those ah-ha! moments are so rewarding. I am a CHA Certified riding coach with Western level 2, and English level 3 qualifications. Teaching from ages 5 to 65, and anywhere from your first time being on a horse, to competition level. I have a weekly lesson program with the option to use my horse or yours at our beautiful outdoor facility. I also coach within a few of the local riding clubs. You will likely see me at the local horse shows with some my students cheering them on, helping them remember their patterns, or taking videos. The lesson horses in our program are calm, gentle and safe. Everyone loves my main guy, Harley, an OTTB with an old soul, gentle eye and the best kid mode.

We have a beautiful private facility a few minutes west of Busby, AB. With a large outdoor sand arena, many colorful jumps and training obstacles, a 60’ roundpen and a new 6 stall barn. A couple times throughout the year I will be hosting clinics at home, and am always accepting training horses.
