Silly me, entered a rodeo for next weekend and I haven’t ran my horse much in months. Took him for a spin today to remind him about his “real” job. Man I missed running him. He makes barrel racing seem so simple. ❤️

We weren’t perfect, but very respectable for as much time as he’s had off. Looking forward to about half a dozen rodeos/events that I’ve picked for him before our winter down here ends.

We finally ventured out to timeonlies yesterday, and I think she’s ready for me to get out of the way. Lots of room to improve (always), but it felt like a great start. Maybe a couple of weeks of timeonlies and I’ll get entering by February. 👍

“Moolah” hasn’t ran a steer since last winter down here (that I can recall, anyway). He sure didn’t miss a beat!

Giving him a break from barrel racing, and switching it up to keep him lovin’ his job ❤️. He will return to the barrel pen in February when Aaron gets his surgery and can’t rope for a while.

Officially a wrap on our 2024 season tonight and I couldn’t be happier with my horses. We finished 4th in the round, and 2nd in the Average.

I am feeling so fortunate to have 3 exceptional horses that have given me the most amazing season, all of them contributing when I needed them. This week was no exception. With “Leroy” getting hurt, “Mini” quickly changed from my backup to my starter, and “Moolah” put together two respectable runs to keep me in the average, with limited preparation. I never have expectations, so when things work out in my favour, it just makes me even more grateful for everything.

I say it lots and I truly mean it - I couldn’t do this without Aaron. His support never wavers❤️.

Thanks to everyone that cheers for my horses and I. Thanks for all the kind words and encouragement. Appreciate you all.

When I saw the draw for today, I went with my gutt and decided to switch horses. A little bobble on 1st cost us a cheque tonight, but I was so happy with him. Best 2nd barrel I have had in a small building since spring.❤️

He’s been on vacation and was not supposed to be here- so incredibly grateful for a couple of extra runs on him before next year.

A lot more locked on our first barrel tonight, and she found the out gate 🎉. She was a little short and hard to pilot around 2nd and 3rd, but I stayed in the buggy 🤠. Shaved a tenth and a half off of last nights time, and I’m going to trust the process and try to stay on her.

Was a packed house tonight in Regina for “Mini’s” first big show. I ran her at only 3 pro rodeos this year and was up in slack at all of them! I was super happy with how she handed the atmosphere so well, and we’ll try to build off of this and get faster tomorrow 💪. And we’ll especially make sure she runs out the back gate at practise tomorrow 😁. The last minute hesitation had me a bit worried.

Full sibling to ALG HEZ GOTTA HEMI, owned by the Willows family.

This mare was kept back to be my jackpot horse and I am not finding the time to jackpot. She is young and going to waste here. She is currently a 2D mare. She needs to be someone’s number 1. She is not for an inexperienced rider - she can get spooky and silly and needs someone to read the play and get after her for it. She is not a raging bronc, but like I said, when she gets a bit on the insecure side, I bridle her up, pick on her a little and she smartens up. Otherwise, she is as sweet as they come, and in your pocket.

She is not in shape. I pulled her shoes a couple of weeks ago in prep of winter and she got very tender. She is thin-soled and she does get hock maintenance as required. Runs on lasix.

She has all the 🇨🇦 incentives, including Royal Crown Canada, Western Fortunes, CBHI & Superstakes. Would be a perfect winter project, and ready to hit some big events in the spring.

Aaron has been trying to put some steady rides on “Gretzky” so that he’s ready for me when we get to Arizona. I am a firm believer that a young horse has to be conditioned/“in shape” to lope small circles, so I try to do that before I introduce the pattern. Aaron was bored loping big circles on him, so he worked him through my barrel drill in the middle of the arena. I couldn’t help but notice just how easy this was for him. He’s pretty balanced and light😍😍. It’s hard for me to try to stay patient, and stay off him….

First thing Aaron told me when he started riding “Gretzky” was, “You should probably sell something so you have time for this one. You’re gonna love him.” He knows me well. I think I love him already. ❤️
