Camhaven Farm offers breaking and handling services of young horses in a stress-free environment giving your horse the best opportunity for a successful career.

Our breaking process consists of utilizing our Breaking Round Pen, which we call Circle of Learning.

The round pen is used for breaking young horses. This process serves as the foundation for later training. A well broke horse is less likely to injure itself and those around them.

The process begins with a horse and a small round closed area filled with sand and dirt. Our experienced handlers uses a lunge line to teach the horse to respond to the handlers voice and body commands.

The horse starts without a saddle, but will later progress in teaching the horse to accept a bridal, saddle and weight of a rider.

Once the horse is comfortable with the saddle the handler will be “belly-up” by laying over the horse’sback. When the horse is used to the weight, the rider will sit astride in the saddle.

Our experienced staff are here to assist you with any questions you may have. Our facility is fully equipped to handle the entire foaling process, from conception to weaning to starting youngsters under saddle.

With our staff living on-site, we offer permanent broodmare indoor boarding and on-property foaling out services.

Mares residing at CamHaven Farms to foal out, receive 24 hour monitoring via camera system so she can safely have her foal in our private foaling stall.

Though some of our clients do take the mare and foal home once they are settled and healthy, many opt to leave them at Camhaven Farms where they will be gradually introduced to other mares and foals of the same age in one of our mare pastures, giving them the social environment and herd interaction for best development and maturity.

Our Broodmare services include:
