Reminder - if you are planning to horse show this year, your horse must be up to date with its Flu/Rhino vaccine (within 6 months) and this must be done at minimum 2 weeks prior 💉

Don’t leave these appointments to the last minute. Give our office a call and we would be happy to get it booked in ☺️

We are very excited to offer stall side IgG and progesterone testing with our new SideKick Reader! 👏🏻

With these new IgG tests, we will be able to give a exact numerical value to a foal’s IgG to further help guide clients in making decisions for next steps including providing additional colostrum or giving plasma 🩺

The progesterone stall side tests will allow quicker turn around time to determine if hormone supplementation is needed to support the mare’s pregnancy🐴

This is great news for all our breeding clients however, stay tuned for updates because we are hopeful to have stall side ACTH and insulin testing come Fall 2025 🙌🏻

Caring for older horses can get complicated and we are here to help! Often on dental records, our veterinarians will record ‘age related dental cupping’, but what does this really mean? 🐴

Dental cupping occurs to the pre-molars and molars when they wear down leading to sharp enamel edges, diastema’s (gaps between teeth) and an overall decrease in grinding surface. This can make eating coarse hay very difficult! Often these horses are at a high risk of choke and we recommend soaking all feed to try to avoid this 🦷

Introducing Dr. Talya Beattie to the FEVS team! Now that she’s been with us for the past two weeks, we thought it was time for a proper introduction 👏🏻

She graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2019 and has since worked in Yorkshire as an equine veterinarian. Then, ready for her next adventure she has moved to Canada and we are so excited to have her here at Ferguson Equine 🐴

Passionate about all aspects of general practice with a certain interest in emergency medicine! When not working, you can likely find her watching football or going for a hike with her dogs, Moose and Fern 🐾

Please make sure to give her a warm FEVS welcome next time you see her☺️

It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of our beloved Boogie at just shy of 32 years old ❤️

Dr. Ferguson owned him for almost all his life, and through the years he has touched the hearts of too many to list. Known for his strong opinion, being the best babysitter and always spreading love to all his people even though he may drag you to grass any chance he gets 😅

The FEVS clinic feels different without him, but we know he is out spending his days on long trail rides and grazing all the finest pastures. We love you Boogie🐴❤️

Our lovely assistants had a great couple days of continued education at the 2025 OVMA conference. Sitting in on great presentations including equine lameness and promoting good team culture as well as having great discussion with vendors on the show floor 📝

Along with a trip to Ripley’s Aquarium and enjoying good food with each other, it’s safe to say the girls had a successful trip to the city🙌
