This is a live Otodectes cynotis (ear mite) a microscopic ectoparasite to dogs and cats. Also seen is an ear mite egg. They feed on ear wax and skin oils, leaving behind a black crusty discharge. Sorry if you now feel itchy. 😕
We removed this tick today. With the above 4 degrees Celsius weather conditions, ticks have been out and active and looking for a host to feed on. Call us for prevention and advice.
