Sunday evening marked the end of the season with our Annual ECH Awards Dinner. Masters Roz Balding and Dr. Wendy Brett hosted a wonderful dinner for members and guests at the Kennel Club House. Live music, great food and fellowship along with well deserved recognition for many members made for a memorable evening.

After a run on 2 different coyotes in the morning, the hounds really changed gear and provided us with a phenomenal run in the afternoon on a viewed coyote. Fast and with tremendous voice these hounds are running as an awesome pack! There were only a handful of us left out by the time we had to stop them at 4.30pm with the fog and dark coming in.

Hounds were on fire for our Colbeck meet! Incredible views of the pack working hard. With one last river crossing we finally called it a day a 4 PM and headed off to a scrumptious hunt breakfast.

A cold start to the day today! We warmed up quickly as hounds were speaking, coyotes were viewed and flasks were emptied.

Deer season means we had a trail ride at Mono Cliffs park today. The weather was amazing, we had great company, rode through beautiful countryside and had a lovely barn party and breakfast afterwards.
And our hardworking hounds got a rest day as well!
Thanks to Deb for hosting us from Hilltopper Hollow, and Eni, Sarah and Christine for helping host the breakfast.

Not all hunt clubs have the leader of their country show up. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau enjoyed the royal winter fair along with ECH.

A great ECH Halloween Hunter Pace!

18 teams (42 riders ) competed for the best costume award as well as the optimal time to win the final hunter pace of the year. Riders joined volunteers and social members for a fantastically spooky breakfast.
Big winners were the Gypsy Vanner Hippies for costume and Toy Story for optimal time.

The spectacular scenery and the wide open gallops did not lend to taking lots of photos. It was just simply a joy for our many guests that were out on Saturday, some for the first time. I think we will see them back! Many thanks to Feren Llewellyn for bringing Young riders and introducing them to our Sport. Welcome as well Wanda and Doug Topolovic.

ECH Hoot ‘N’ Holler Barn Dance

Eglinton & Caledon Hounds finished off our Opening Meet day with a rousing Barn Dance at the home of Master Wendy Brett and Jeff Wilson. A fun night for a great crowd with smoked barbecue buffet, silent auction, live auction, live music, dancing and more. Thank you to our hosts and everyone who worked together to make this event such a success!

ECH Opening Meet 2024

We enjoyed a great turnout of members and guests including visitors from Florida this morning at Opening Meet. The fog lifted to reveal a brilliant sunny day to kick off our fall formal season.

ECH Summer Ride June 2024

The first Summer Ride of the season hosted by Susan MacNamara at Grand River House. Our summer trail rides are a great way to introduce green horses or riders and keep our horses fit for the fall hunt season. Non members are welcome to join us for a small fee. Pot luck lunch with burgers and booze around the kitchen island to retell the stories of the ride and enjoy great camaraderie. Check website for upcoming summer ride dates.

ECH had a wonderful day in Niagara on the lake. Thank you James Sommer for allowing everyone to join you on your day ! Horse drawn carriages and riders enjoyed a full day followed by a fab meal.

Our final meet of the spring hunting season proved yet again that anything can happen. That is the beauty and the joy of field hunting. Looking forward to our spring hunter pace and summer rides through our beautiful hunt country.

Thank You to all that came out to our fabulous Ramshead Meet. We covered a lot of ground and the hounds put on a heck of a show for us. Thank you Ros Balding and her team of whips for a great day! Of course the breakfast met expectations for sure! To add to our enjoyment we had a large number of guest from Wellington Waterloo Hunt which is always a treat. Don’t forget we have horse hiring if you don’t have a suitable mount.
