When your daughter's horse is gettin' too rushy & not bending properly he gets some extra attention. Lil' scooter got some serious R&R and a whole lot of ground work today when he got laid down.

After a long month of abcess repair; daily soaking, boot changing, pearing out his hoof, the -S- patriarch is back!
Wrangler is the most important horse in our herd & more importantly, the only horse in this little girl's heart. We are so relieved he's ready to end the 2023 rodeo season with a bang 💥

We now have a 5 stall barn, 200 x 150 outdoor riding arena, 2 round pens, 9 paddocks, 5 pastures, 140 acres and of course .. more horses!

Teaching the supple bend with minimal pressure 🐴 So often when people lunge their horses they get after them with a lot of pressure and don't release right away. This translates under saddle to your horse needing you to peddle them all day to get going & not being able to stay in the gate you asked for. It always makes horses very straight & stiff - this is a great way to get a soft, light feel from your horse. Fundamentals are the building blocks of fun 💯 Dummy roping is never as fun as live cattle, but going slower is rarely that exciting. But like everything else in horsemanship, you gotta' slow down so you can speed up. I can perfect my swing, work on controlling my horses hip and about 1000 other things I can't do as well at top speed on a live calf. Being able to mount your horse from the ground is such a special moment. As a prey animal, this is a very vulnerable position for them. They have to trust you implicitly to allow this 🐴
