No matter how gentle the big dogs are, they are always supervised during play.

If you have a shy dog or a reactive dog Scent Detection is a great bonding experience for you both as there is NEVER any dog-on-dog interaction. Each team takes turns in the search area and then “rests” away from the other dogs until it is their turn again. Are you worried that your puppy is too young to start classes?

Dogs can go to classes as young as 8 weeks, if they have had their first set of shots. According to the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior. (2008). AVSAB position statement on Puppy Socialization.
"The primary and most important time for puppy socialization is the first three months of life. During this time puppies should be exposed to as many new people, animals, stimuli and environments as can be achieved safely and without causing over stimulation manifested as excessive fear, withdrawal or avoidance behavior. For this reason, the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior believes that it should be the standard of care for puppies to receive such socialization before they are fully vaccinated."
