Tank is my inspiration to why I put in my efforts into Dixie and the other lost and stolen pups. I had rescued Tank from the #calgaryhumanesociety in 2017. Tank was gone for the past three years and I couldn’t believe that after all this time he was finally coming back home. My daughter and I were absolutely crushed everyday that Tank was gone. We have a giant canvas of Tank that’s been in my daughter’s bedroom and every morning and night she would give Tanky a kiss before bedtime and when she woke up. I’ve spent the past three years explaining to my daughter that Tanky is not coming back home but he will forever be in our hearts. As a single mom this has been one of my biggest struggles to keep it together for my daughter. Nobody will ever understand what Tanky means to us. Experiencing this loss and pain with losing my dog for three years I can understand the heartbreak that others are going through and so I will do what I can to help others get their babies back home safe. When Tank was picked up by a family member I had FaceTimed my baby and right away I knew something was wrong with him. My grandfather had brought Tanky back home for us and immediately I started the process of appointments with specialists and the surgeon. Tanky had his rear left leg reconstructed as it was ruptured and he was in serious pain. This was a very unexpected process both mentally and financially but I knew that no matter what I was going to make his surgery happen. Nobody will ever understand the joy and happiness when your baby is back home where they belong. Tank is now 113 days into his recovery of his surgery and 75% recovered. Tanky has spent majority of his recovery with my new dog I rescued and all my wonderful clients pups! I can’t thank you all enough for your support and understanding my exhaustion once Tank went for his surgery. Pay attention to how Hubie is not respecting Daizy’s space as he is going straight into physical play with touch of pawing at Daizy’s head. Yes, Hubie means no harm but he must understand boundaries and appropriate play behaviour as well. Training is NOT only required for the pup with behaviours of aggression as it’s a must for the pups who are involved as well. It’s been four days now Daizy has been with us for boarding and here’s a few things we’ve been working on which has given us the success of removing her muzzle in certain situations. • To be able to share the same space in a calm state only, no play • Basic obedience involving claiming space, jealousy, protection, simple commands • Focusing on myself • Eliminating the high focus on other pups (stare downs) • Correcting body tension •Physical exercise •Relationship building By focusing on our short term goals we are now getting ready to start the process of our long term goals!
