💡Harness Review💡Flagline
👩🎓 Gear can’t substitute training, but it sure can help! Switch from a flat collar to a body harness with a chest clip for your leash.
🐕🦺 Use a nylon leash NOT a retractable to set clear expectations for your pup
🦴 bring lots of positive reinforcement and feed your dog at your side in the desired position.

⚡️More Freedom⚡️
🐾 only move onto the next step of this process if your dog has been consistently successful! If at any point, your dog has setbacks, it is OK to go back a step and practice there for longer.
🐶 the less mistakes, your dog is able to make by being full proof with your long line the faster they will learn!
🐕🦺 being off-leash is a privilege not a right!

🌈 Setting Off-Leash Boundaries 🌈 Unprompted attention!
🐕 Teaching good boundaries is a process and might feel time consuming in the beginning but imagine the pay off in the end!
🐾 Good off leash boundaries mean improved recall! Better engagement with your dog! And compliments from everyone else in the park!
✅ Treats
✅ Longline in a longer length
✅ Pawsitive Attitude

🌟Setting Off-Leash Boundaries 🌟
🐾 Notice how we said it is not just an important one, but a necessary skill for off-leash dogs?
🐕 You have to TEACH your dog appropriate boundaries! If you unclip and your dogs takes off into the park without a thought in your direction- you have no one to blame but yourself!
🐶 We are in charge of teaching our dogs what the expectations are in any given setting! Don’t let your dog embarrass you in the park, start off on the right paw! 🐾

⚡️Be Proactive, Not Reactive! ⚡️
Here’s a game-changing approach for every dog parent: stay one step ahead of your dog’s behavior! Rather than reacting after your dog has made a bad choice, set them up to succeed from the start. Here’s how:
🔸 Know Your Dog’s Triggers: learn what sets your dog off. Anticipate these moments and redirect their attention before they even think about reacting.
🔸 Keep Rewards Handy: Carry high-value treats or your dog’s favorite toy. The moment they choose calmness over chaos, reward them! This positive reinforcement makes good behavior a no-brainer for them.
🔸 Practice Makes Perfect: Make training commands like “come,” and “focus” second nature. Rehearse these in less stimulating environments, so your dog is ready for the real-world challenges of the park.
Being proactive means fewer problems, a more confident dog, and a better bond between you and your furry friend. Let’s make every walk in the park a success! 🐕🌟

🌳Who says the park is just for play? 🐾
While other dogs are busy chasing tails, we’re over here solving world problems (well, sort of)! 🐶 Keeping your pup’s brain sharp, even with all the distractions – because why should only humans get the glory of multitasking? 💪
Get some treats, a busy park, and a dog ready to show off those smarts. Bring it on, squirrels and frisbees, we’re un-barkable! 😏✨

⚠️Did you know❓ If your dog is a very strong puller, and also reactive- you don’t have to compromise on what gear to use?
✅ A head halti is a great tool for dogs who outweigh you and are willing to use maximum force to pull on leash. These should be used in conjunction with a body harness to avoid cervical injury.
➡️ Your head halti should be put on first before your muzzle.
✅ A basket muzzle is a great tool for bite prevention! Your muzzle should be put on after your head halti.
*️⃣ NOTE: the strap of the halti pulls THROUGH the strap of the muzzle like in the photo above- this is so when you clip your leash to the halti it does not affect the integrity or fit of the muzzle!
🐶 And as always- make sure to practice slow desensitization to your muzzle and halti before just slapping it on the dog. The same premise of muzzle desensitization (see previous videos) applies to your halti!

🦮 Slow and Steady Wins the Race: Desensitizing Reactivity in Dogs 🐾
Working on your dog’s reactivity? Remember, progress takes time and patience! Slow desensitization is key to helping your furry friend feel more comfortable in challenging situations. By gradually exposing them to triggers in a controlled and positive way, you can reduce their stress and build their confidence.
✨ Tips for Success:
1. Start with low-level triggers at a distance where your dog is calm.
2. Reward calm behavior with treats and praise.
3. Gradually decrease the distance over time, always watching for signs of stress.
Celebrate every small victory and stay consistent! Your dog will learn that they can trust you to keep them safe. 🐶💛

⛓️ Martingale collars ⛓️💥 are a great tool for dogs who tend to slip out of regular collars, but proper fit is key!
✅ These collars should sit comfortably high on your dog’s neck, snug enough to prevent slipping, but loose enough to avoid choking.
✅ When your dog pulls, the collar should tighten just enough to give you control without causing discomfort. A well-fitted martingale collar keeps your pup safe, secure, and comfortable on every walk. 🐕✨
