Calgary Humane Society Facebook Community Standards

At Calgary Humane Society we operate based on the values of empathy and respect for all living things with the goal of creating a more compassionate society. Our community standards can be summarized in three main categories:

Respectful communication:
All members are expected to be respectful in how they communicate at all times. We understand

that from time to time there will be disagreements, but at all times the communication must remain respectful. Profanity, hateful comments, racist statements, libelous content and personal attacks will result in comment deletion, warnings or participation bans. No solicitation:
Any and all fundraising/event notifications posted on Calgary Humane Society’s Facebook community must be given explicit permission. Solicitation of our community members for fundraising or petitions is NOT permitted. Absolutely no links to personal fundraising pages (GoFundMe etc.) are permitted on the CHS Facebook Community. If you are hosting an event to raise funds for Calgary Humane Society that you would like mentioned on our page please contact our page administrator or our resource development team to discuss. Respect for privacy:
Calgary Humane Society is engaged under provincial legislation to uphold the Alberta Animal Protection Act. As such, we have a duty to protect the integrity of the investigations we conduct. We also have a duty to protect the identity and information of our clients. Any posts that pose a risk to an investigation or are a potential violation of existing privacy legislation will be removed from the page. Calgary Humane Society reserves the right to delete any posts that are in violation of our community standards, send warnings regarding community conduct and block individuals from further posting on our Facebook community at our sole discretion. Forever Home Update 🏘️💕

"Thank you so much for checking in on Toro (Copo's new name)!
Toro has been a dream for us and has settled right in from Day 1 - we feel so lucky to have him in our home. He eats and drinks so well, plays lots, and gives us tons of cuddles everyday.
There hasn't been any behaviour issues from Toro, he's truly just been the best boy!

We just wanted to say thank you SO much to all the folks at the Calgary Humane Society for making the adoption process for Toro so smooth and easy. We felt supported the whole way through, and thanks to CHS we've found the perfect new addition to our home." 🐱

Meet Heaven! 🐱

This 1-year-old cat can be very shy and reserved when meeting new people. She appreciates taking things at her own pace, but when she's ready, she loves to roll around on her bed or cat tower and enjoy herself 💕. While she will sometimes solicit pets, she’s equally content just having someone nearby, chatting with her. She’s also an air biscuit enthusiast. 🥯

Heaven would do best in a quiet home where she can have space to make herself comfortable. She previously came from a home with other cats, so there is potential for her to live with a feline friend. 🐈

Meet Maximus! 🐕

Maximus is an 8-year-old Bull Terrier mix with lots of energy and a heart full of love! 💖 Described as a bit of a silly goose, Maximus is an energetic, snuggly, and lovable companion ready to find his forever home. During his time in foster care, Maximus has enjoyed cuddling up to watch movies, taking hikes, and spending quality time with his favorite people. 🐾🏘️

Maximus would do best in a home where he is the only pet, as he has shown stress and discomfort around other animals. We also recommend an adult only home as he can take time to warm up to new people and feels safer with adults who greet him calmly and respect his space. Maximus has previously struggled with being left alone, and is looking for a home that can help him work through it.‍🐕‍🦺

Forever Home Update 💕

"We lost our girl Portia, who we adopted from Calgary Humane just over two years ago. Unfortunately, due to a mammory rumour that became cancerous and fatal. We had to make the hardest and most loving decision. She was there for my wedding, through my pregnancy, and the first year and a half of my sons life. I wanted to send some photos of what Portia’s life looked like with us.
Thank you for giving us the chance to love her. She will forever be my soul dog. Thank you for all that you guys do"

We want to thank this family for sharing their story with us and giving Portia a wonderful forever home 🐾🏘️.

Meet McClane! 🐈‍⬛

This 2 year old cat can be described as sweet and playful and will be a great companion for all your household activities 🧹. The only thing McClane loves more than people is food and feather toys! He enjoys holding the toy in his mouth, settling on the ground, and meticulously removing the feathers (just make sure he doesn’t eat them!) 🪶.

McClane would do best in a quiet, low-stimulation home 🏠. He loves attention but can get overstimulated. We suggest that any children in the home understand cat body language and give McClane the space he needs. He would benefit from plenty of enrichment to keep both his mind and body healthy and engaged! 🧠💕

Ella is a 7-year-old Shepherd mix with lots of bounce in her step! 💖 Described as incredibly friendly and always ready for a cuddle, she is ready to start a life with her new forever family. During her time in foster care, Ella enjoyed leisurely strolls, lounging on sunny decks, and spending quality time with her favorite people. 🐾🏘️

Ella would do best in a supportive home that is dedicated to keeping her happy and healthy! Her history with children is unknown and we suggest all interactions be supervised. She has been shown to have some reactivity towards dogs but there is potential for her to still live with another dog. 🐕‍🦺

248 Animals Adopted over Home for the Holidays! 👏👏👏

Thanks to your incredible support, 248 animals found their forever homes during our Home for the Holidays campaign! This included: 35 dogs, 7 birds, and 199 cats. 🐶🐱🦜

In addition, our dedicated team placed 166 animals into foster care, ensuring they had a safe and loving space over the holiday season. 🏘️

Thank you to everyone who adopted, fostered, or supported us in December. You’ve made a lasting difference in the lives of so many animals, giving them the gift of a brighter future. 💕

Meet Mack! 🐶

Mack is a 2-year-old Mastiff ready for a fresh start in life! This gentle giant is described as one of the most loving and affectionate dogs you could ever meet. He adores people and will happily curl up in your lap if given the chance. Mack has also had the opportunity to show off his smarts, knowing commands like "paw," "sit," and "stay! 🐕‍🦺

Mack would do best in a home who is ready for the biggest cuddle bug you can find 💕! His forever home will need to be one without cats or small animals due to a high prey drive. We would also encourage older children in the home. He could live with other dogs pending a successful doggie playdate! 🐾
