Taber day 3. Last day. The land was tough but the company great. Lots of thick cattails. Jen & Matt spent a lot of time working the reeds. Tamara came with Vimy and we scoured the field with Sprout & Vimy. Some lovely points, tracking, and birdiness. They put up a few. But no pissible shots.

The final push was left for Huck. I just love hunting with my guy. He tracked and located one of the illusive phesants Vimy & Sprout were after. George shot it for our first.

Jen & Matt’s Kali put up 2 out of the reeds. They pursued the one that went back to reed land and we pursued the field. Huck had a great point and George got number 2!

Thankyou friends and the organizers of Taber Phesant Festival. It’s been 3 incredible days of hunting.

It’s all about the match! As Freya started to grow up we knew she needed a different environment to shine. We are so grateful to Kamala And Kieth for their love and nurturing. It has brought out the best in this very special girl.

This is a summary of kamala’s post.

Freya’s first NASDA Trial at Prairie Dog Sports Inc. was awesome! We are working to figure out her favourite things so we signed up for all 5 sports. It turns out she loves them ALL!

Freya earned her Trail & Locate-1, Brace Trailing-1, Shed Dog-1, Urban Locate-1 and Lost Item-1 titles with 7 High in Class. As a result, she also earned her Bronze Trail and Locating Versatility and her Supreme Versatility Bronze for titling in all 5 sports!!

She earned most of her level 1 titles by Saturday so we took the plunge and moved up to level 2. She continued to shine, taking on the increased complexity like a champ with 6/7 Qs and 2 High in Class.

Thank you Lynn Taylor and Claire Malcolm for entrusting us with this girl. We’re gonna have a lot of fun playing with Freya aka

Why we don’t spay and neuter early.

Why we don’t spay and neuter early.

In conclusion, this study shows that the risk of cranial cruciate ligament disease in dogs is linked to how long they are exposed to natural s*x hormones, and the relationship isn't simple or linear. The highest risk was seen when females were spayed before about 1054 days just under 3 years) and males before about 805 days (a little over 2 years).
These results may help define what counts as "early" spay or neuter when it comes to cranial cruciate ligament disease risk.
Veterinary reproduction specialists now recommend hormone-preserving sterilization: preventing unwanted litters & less risk of torn cruciates.
