MEOW Foundation

MEOW Foundation Founded in 2000, MEOW Foundation is a cat-focused registered charity and humane society with a no-kill mandate located in Calgary, Canada.

MEOW Foundation is a Calgary-based no-kill registered charity that rescues and adopts stray and abandoned cats, and provides valuable community programs.

*Please note, visits are by appointment only* We rescue and facilitate the adoption of stray and abandoned cats into new, loving permanent homes. We work hard to match each MEOW cat with the best possible home based on his or her personality, hi

story, habits and individual needs. In addition to our Rescue and Adoption program, MEOW Foundation offers a subsidized Spay Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP), Cat Food Assistance Program and Trap Neuter Return (TNR) Program. Our volunteers and staff are passionate about providing the best care to every cat and dedicated to providing the best services to our supporters. We believe that through the dedication and compassion of people across the planet, we will create a society that respects the animals with whom we share the world. Together we can Make Each One Wanted.

Meet Beemster, a charming ginger and white boy with a heart of gold! This sweet feline adores the company of other cats and is often found snuggled up with his roommates. Playtime is his favourite time—he loves trying out every toy he can find and bringing joy to those around him.

Though a bit shy at first, Beemster has blossomed into a loving companion who happily seeks out pets, purrs contentedly, and even shares the occasional love nibble. Sudden movements and loud noises can still spook him, so he’d thrive in a calm home without young children. With his hearty appetite and enthusiasm for mealtime, he’s always ready for his next adventure.

Today is the last day of our Home for the Holidays campaign, and Beemster dreams of finding his forever home! He would love to join a family with another cat to help him feel safe and confident. If you’re ready to give this playful and affectionate boy a second chance, visit our Cat-a-logue to learn more and apply to adopt. 💙

Did you know that female kittens as young as 4 months old can get pregnant? Cats are prolific breeders, with their breeding season running from February to October. During this time, a female cat can go into heat 3–4 times, drastically increasing the risk of unwanted litters.

Even more surprising—cats don’t discriminate when it comes to mating. Littermates and even offspring can end up breeding, contributing to overpopulation and putting kittens at risk of health issues.

Spaying and neutering isn’t just about preventing unwanted litters; it’s also a key part of keeping your cat healthy. Fixing your feline reduces the risk of certain cancers and behavioural issues, like spraying and aggression, while helping to combat cat overpopulation.

Let’s work together to protect our cats and reduce the number of homeless kitties in need of care. If your cat isn’t fixed yet, talk to your vet for options, or visit our website to learn about our SNAP program.

Haarlem is a stunning grey beauty with bright green eyes and a gentle, shy nature. This curious young girl loves the company of other cats—whether it's playful romps or cozy group naps, she thrives in feline companionship. While she’s still learning to trust humans, she enjoys staying close to those she knows, and has recently started accepting gentle pets.

Haarlem would do best in an adult-only home where there’s already a friendly cat to help her feel safe and comfortable as she continues to grow in confidence.

Could Haarlem be the perfect addition to your home? Visit our Cat-a-logue to learn more about her and all the wonderful cats waiting for their chance at a forever family!

Alumni Update! 🎓
We love a good glow-up story, and Lucy’s is one for the books! This sweet teen mom, known as Ms. Poppy during her time at MEOW, has been in her forever home for just over a year—and what a year it’s been!

Lucy has settled beautifully into her new life and keeps her family endlessly entertained. Whether it’s zooming around the apartment, playing with her toys, or soaking up all the head scritches she can get, this girl knows how to have fun.

In a surprising twist, Lucy has embraced her adventurous side and LOVES outside time on her harness! Her family says she’s very dog-like, even pawing at the door when she wants to go for a walk. She gets so excited when her harness comes out that she makes it easy to gear her up and head out.

Lucy is deeply attached to her humans and insists on always having them in sight—proving just how much love she has to give. Her family says having Lucy in their lives has been nothing short of wonderful, and we couldn’t be happier for this amazing kitty. 💙

Meet Linnea, a resilient and affectionate little lady with a heart full of love to share. After being abandoned on a rural acreage, Linnea found safety in a shed and waited patiently for someone to care for her. Now, she’s ready to leave her past behind and start a new chapter in a loving home.

Linnea adores curling up in cozy hidey beds and cat tents, where she feels safe and secure. Her purrs are the sweetest reward for a kind word or gentle pet, and her affectionate nature will warm your heart every day.

This holiday season, Linnea’s greatest wish is to find her forever home. Could it be with you? Follow the link below to learn more and make her dreams come true.

Every year, MEOW Foundation provides life-saving care to hundreds of cats and kittens in need. Mattheo (pictured) is just one example of this.

Mattheo’s journey is a story of resilience and hope. At just 10 days old, he arrived at MEOW Foundation with his semi-feral mom and sister, Maddie. Sadly, their mom was too stressed to care for them, leaving Mattheo and Maddie in need of urgent help.

Thanks to a dedicated foster, Mattheo received around-the-clock care and grew stronger every day. Tragically, Maddie passed away at 4 weeks old due to complications with an illness, but Mattheo’s strength and playful spirit carried him forward.

Today, Mattheo has found his forever home with Christy, a loving MEOW staff member who helped care for him from the start. He’s safe, happy, and thriving—but not every kitten gets the same chance.

This holiday season, you can change that. Your donation to MEOW Foundation helps provide food, medical care, and love to cats and kittens in need. You can give the gift of a second chance.

Visit meowfoundation.com/donate to learn how you can support MEOW Foundation this holiday season and beyond.

With love and purrs,

Mattheo and the MEOW Foundation Team 💙
