As much as Iβd love to take Cedar with me everywhere I go - I know that down time is really important for his nervous system!
Dogs need uninterrupted rest. Most of the dogs Iβm working with these days are straight up OVER TIRED!
Unless your dog has isolation anxiety or separation anxiety - remember to leave them home alone or separated from you for 2-4 hours a day if you can.
Providing them a comfortable, safe, familiar resting place is key to preventing: over stimulation leading to nipping, barking, restlessness, leash biting, low-stress threshold outside of the home, snappy behaviour when moving them while resting, and much more!
Try getting into a routine with this resting time. Try after long walks, with something to lick at like a frozen kong to calm themselves. Try playing calming music. And always keep it the length of time you know they are comfortable with.
Donβt wanna do it? Whoβs got the separation anxiety ππ€ͺπ€¦πΌββοΈ!
Happy nap time friends!
