Calgary’s No. 1 Farmyard!

WE ARE OPEN 10 am -2 pm weekdays and 10 am - 4 pm weekends BUT… keep on reading please!

COVID-19…. we are carefully monitoring Alberta Health and City of Calgary updates and policies and are adapting as changes are made. WE ALL NEED TO WORK TOGETHER… PLEASE BE PART OF THE SOLUTION!!

WHEN YOU DO COME TO THE FARM (current highlights for you):

1) HAND WASHING is more important than ever. NOW>>> you MUST wash hands immediately BEFORE going into pens AND BEFORE every activity (like the wagon ride, pony ride, and the milk house) AND immediately AFTER every pen/activity.

2) SOCIAL DISTANCING is SO IMPORTANT. Please be aware of those around you; be kind and considerate. Watch for colorful frizbees on fence posts to mark social distancing in possible line-up areas.

3) MILK HOUSE: Masks are required for adults and children over 2.

4) PONY RIDES: MASKS are required for children over 2, and for the adult walking along beside the child.

5) MASKS available for purchase at Admissions if needed. We respectfully ask that everyone consider wearing a mask while here… purely as an added layer of safety.

6) CONCESSION and Chop ‘n Cones (food for the animals) are not currently available (we’re staging things in slowly).

7) The ‘animal zone’ ( all the usual animal areas) will be available to the public as usual, but as you read above, hand washing is required both going into each pen/activity, and coming out from each pen/activity. Areas outside of the animal zone (primarily day camp cabins -we call them ‘Day Camp Barns’, and some picnic tables) are off limits. This includes the sand box unfortunately. This allows us to comply with Alberta Health guidelines while allowing maximum use of the most important parts of the farm!

Please check back here just before you come for any new organizational strategies we have put into place.

Under ‘normal circumstances (remember those???)), here at Butterfield Acres, there’s many opportunities to teach your children all sorts of wonderful things about farm animals throughout the various seasons. Love, respect, interesting facts and even a few fun farm jokes! At Butterfield Acres, children can enjoy Pony Rides, Tractor Rides, Goat Milking mid-April thru the end of September, Farmyard activity stations and much more!
