Thank you so much to for coming out and hosting a fun, yet challenging exercise class geared towards our riders tonight! We might be a little sore for dressage tomorrow, but it was definitely well worth it.

Already looking forward to having you back out! Great turn out gang 💚

Grey Horse Farm’s first schooling show was a huge success!

First of all - a huge and sincere thank you goes out to Jeff and Maureen for hosting and running such a fun event for the farm. It ran smoothly, was fun for all, and is definitely going to be a yearly staple.

Thank you to our judge and fearless leader (in her scary horns) and to our eloquent and talented scribe. We all have fantastic (and exuberant) notes to take away from our dressage tests in the AM, and appreciated your support in the afternoon jump divisions!

Obviously a thank you, congratulations and huge pat on the back to all of our riders and horses who competed yesterday. Everyone rode well, overcame challenges, had personal wins and best moments, and made us all proud.

And a huge thank you to everyone who stepped in to help, volunteered, brought a dish for the potluck, came to cheer our riders on, got costumes ready, etc.
It takes a village, and we have a pretty fantastic one here at Grey Horse Farm!

Here’s to a year of GHF 🎉

A huge congratulations to these four riders who worked so hard all season!

Katie and Leo finished 1st overall in regular EV 100. Sadie finished 4th in regular EV 100 on Johnny. Lindsay finished 2nd with both Taxi and McKenzie in regular EV 90 and open EV 75 respectively, and Emily and Valinor finished 2nd in open EV 85 💃🏼

Technically today is our one year anniversary at the farm + Halloween - but that post will come later 😅

This past weekend I had the privilege of riding with British Gold Medalist here at

It was brilliant! Willow was a rather naughty girl the first day (and some of the second 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️). But she ultimately jumped everything I pointed her at. It definitely was an eye opener for her, the poor pony did corners, angles, skinnies, tough cross country lines, things she’s never done. We did have lots of green horse moments, but really for the amount of time and miles she has on her, she was a superstar. I think the event this weekend will in someways, feel a little bit easier for her as it should be far less complicated. All in all, Wills mostly kept her brain working and we learned some very valuable and useful skills, with lots of homework that we need to do. Thanks again for making this happen.

So I should probably learn my dressage test at some point, or even check with test I’m supposed to be doing 🤦‍♀️😂

This week Merlin and I went to the most amazing tack shop and the beach, but I’ll save the Merlin at the beach photos for another post 😂

Probably a very overdue post! I think the last time I posted was New Year, Riley has been in charge of the Grey Horse Farm social media and other than taking forever to do a write up of a show for our socials, I’ve been busy trying to survive each day!
But I have a few days of time with just Willow and Merlin! So tasked with a deep clean of some very sweaty tack from a spicy thoroughbred on the track this morning, I suddenly find time to post! 🤦‍♀️😂

I am currently sat in the shade overlooking the cross country course at Galway Downs with my trusty pup by my side and a beautiful 30 degree day.
It’s been a busy summer of shows, clinics, lessons and general survival and it’s been wonderful. I have an amazing barn family and have so much support from everyone, which I truly am thankful for!

Aramis had some lameness issues this spring and with the help of my fabulous vets at Herbers, a couple of MRIs and in true Aramis fashion, a few dramatic side effects of treatment, he is sound and back in work. I’m not sure that he will be back at the upper levels in eventing, but (don’t tell my dressage friends I said this) he’s at the ‘fun’ level of dressage and hopefully some of the bigger jumper stuff too.🤞

So whilst Wow has a killer jump and is hugely fun to ride, it’s Willow that has had to step up and be the new travelling show pony. With a quick 13 hour trailer ride to Spokane to break her in to the lifestyle, where she was 4th in the novice at her 3rd event (once the dressage brain works, I think she’ll be unstoppable). It was a 3 week recovery and then Wills, myself and Merlin, drove for around 39 hours and 2500kms over 3 days down to California.

With the amazing opportunity of a clinic with in the beautiful grounds of Galway Downs and a 3 day event here next weekend, it was too good to miss. So I’m sat here, fairly drained from the drive, trying to keep up with the office stuff back home but confident in and (and the rest of the village!!) ability to keep the farm running, with time on my hands and a moment to appreciate this life. I will attempt to keep you all updated this week!

September and October seem to have raced through like a tornado, so being a month behind isn’t that bad 🤔😂

Fall Alhambra was a wonderfully organized event, that we always enjoy. For most people it’s the last one of the year and we ended on a high! 🥳

Working the way down the divisions, in reg EV 90 we had Sadie and Johnny finishing in 5th with a fabulous cross country on a tough course. Heather and Danny had a really beautiful dressage test and for once I was actually able to watch! All their hard work is paying off.

EV 90 was won by our very own Claire and Tux! They lead from start to finish (even though they’d learned the wrong test!)

Becca and Twigs had their best dressage ever! (Without a slight detour it probably would have been in the 20’s 😱) and a lovely show jump round.

Emily and Valinor finished 3rd in open EV85 just 0.3 points at behind 2nd, with Sadie and Lenny in 4th with a successful upgrade.

Willow and Wow also upgraded to EV 85 but both had similar feelings about dressage which had more time on 2 legs than 4, but they ate up the cross country to finish in 7th and 8th.

Lindsay and McKenzie zoomed around the cross country like pros and finished in 7th in open EV 75.

Reg EV75 had ‘Speedy’ Pete finishing on their dressage score in 4th place. Kristen and Marbles had a really fabulous cross country and there will be no stopping them next year! They have come soooooo far this year!

Mari and Zipperty Zebadiah the First upgraded to EV75 and jumped their little socks off! From barely jumping cross rails in the winter to leaping xc in the fall!

And last but no means least, Grace rode her young horse in her first event ever and Pippa rose to the challenge with a beautiful 5th place in EV60.
I’m so proud of every single one of my students (all of them, always, not just at shows 😂) and all the hard work and dedication they’ve put in! Love our GHF family! 💚💚

Grey Horse Farm hosted Suds N’ Studs two weeks ago… and it was a blast! Husbands and dads of our riders came out to try their hand at a riding lesson and were put through their paces… with some light heckling from the women & kids on the sidelines of course 😉

And of course we have a video montage coming so keep your eyes peeled for that 😈

20km trail ride at Blackfoot today with a group of 9 from GHF!! Despite getting lost, finding our trail home closed, and needing to detour another 3km - everyone had a lot of fun! Super proud of our riders and horses today, especially our youngest rider Liam who held his own with the adults for 3 hours 😅

Just catching up from a super successful but crazy busy weekend at The Summer Alhambra Event! (Thank you Ulrika and your army of people for putting on such a wonderful competition!)

Where to start?? With 20 students and my 2 girls it was a jam packed event.
Wow and Willow were super stars, though Wow’s intrusive thoughts came out halfway through dressage which marked her down a little, Willow was lying in 3rd after dressage (with a test I didn’t think was very good 😂), 2 double clear cross countries and ‘actually sane’ show jumping put them in 8th and 3rd respectively. Considering Willow has basically done absolutely nothing 3rd in open EV75 was actually quite good 🥳

My student all absolutely rocked this weekend! Starting in Regular EV100 we had our very deserving winners, Katie on Leo, who lead the pack from start to finish, ended on their dressage score, with a fabulous cross country run! Second place was also GHF, Sadie and Johnny, completing their first EV100 and proving that they very much deserve to be at this level. Heather even pulled off the most amazing black eye when she fell off! I jinxed her because I thought how absolutely perfect her first 2 show jumps were and how much she’s improved, I was taught to keep my thoughts in check as she fell off at the third! But she did have an amazing xc run and was in 4th place going into show jumping!
Chris and Kris finished in 7th, they had a BEAUTIFUL dressage test and just a couple of disagreements on cross country, but I think got some things figured and finished strong.

In EV 90 we had Lindsay and Taxi kicking serious butt with a first place after dressage, clear jumping in both xc and show jumping but 2.4 tiny little speeding faults bumped them into 2nd place. Think it just must be time to move up!

Claire and Tux completed their upgrade and finished 8th. This horse is spectacular and these two are going places!
Becca and Twigs have improved at every event and Becca has been working so hard, even though she pretends she’s not listening. 😂 They looked so solid on cross country and I’m super proud of all their hard work.
Emily and Valinor may have parted ways halfway around, but Valinor showed that he could also have a successful future as a homing pigeon, as he galloped straight across the xc field back to his stall! 😂

EV 75 had a fair amount of excitement, with a few falls and eliminations. But even then, my students acted with class and finished up the competition with a smile!
Baby Lenny finished 5th on his dressage score, he’s going to a nice one!! Watch out for him in the future!
Lilian and Belluno completed their upgrade to EV75! This baby TB only came off the track a year ago and Lilian has been working away, so really hasn’t had the chance to ride him as much as she’d like. But they’re doing so well!
Kristen and Marbles are kicking butts and taking names, completing their upgrade and finishing in 7th. They have come soo far in the last 6 months!!
Sophie and Pete cruised around in style, finishing in 8th place with Ali and Artie on their heels in 9th. Ali’s first EV75 and she rocked it!

Last but not least, EV60! Mari and Zipperty Zebadiah the First came into the competition hoping to stay in the dressage ring, instead they had 3 fabulous phases and finished in 9th!
Noha did her first event EVER with Miley and did great, just added a few time faults to her dressage score!

So proud of everyone!! I don’t think I missed anyone? 🤞🤞 we have such an amazing barn family and I’m so happy to be sharing this crazy journey with you all!! 💕

We have two new additions to Grey Horse Farm!!!
The short hair grey is a female, and the long hair grey & white is a boy!

We’re having a fun contest to raise some funds for a spay and neuter, and if we have extra - towards some cat food for them & all our four legged feline friends that we love to love at the barn 💓

$5 will get you a name into the hat, $8 will get you a name for each cat 😉

Comment below or message us to get in on the competition!

We will draw names on Monday, so you have until Sunday night to enter your names 😉 May the odds be ever in your favour!

What a fantastic weekend and a HUGE thank you to Hawley Bennett for flying out and doing a clinic with us at the farm. The entire weekend was a great success. Day One was private dressage session, followed by show jumping sessions on Day Two, and cross country sessions on Day Three!

We truly can’t thank you enough Hawley for the education, insight, perspective and inspiration you shared with us all at Grey Horse Farm this past weekend. We are already looking forward to having you back again, and most definitely looking forward to putting your advice and coaching to good use for the remainder of our show season as well!

And a huge thank you also goes out to our coaches, riders, barn family & community once again. For showing up consistently, trying your best in the saddle, lending a hand, helping each other out, supporting one another and making this horse-filled life a good one. ❤️

It’s a couple weeks late, but our team had a fantastic time at Rebecca Farm in July!! Everyone came with their game face on, and tackled personal goals and milestones in their riding career, and most importantly had a blast doing it. So proud of how these horse & riders are progressing and showing this summer, and excited for our upcoming clinics/events we have to look forward to over the next two months.
