We’re thrilled to announce the return of our Annual Charity Nail Trim Event Supporting the Christian Veterinary Mission for the third year in a row! Join us on Saturday, February 1st, at VCA Riverbend Animal Hospital to support an amazing cause.

What’s Happening?
Volunteer UCVM veterinary students will be providing nail trims for your furry friends. For a suggested donation amount of $25.

This special event is organized by our very own Dr. James Vandergraaf, who is passionate about giving back, and we hope you'll enjoy supporting a cause close to his heart!

All proceeds will support the Christian Veterinary Mission (CVM) as they continue their efforts in Cuernavaca and Taxco, Mexico. These underserved communities often lack access to veterinary care, and the stray dog population is a significant challenge.

The mission provides free spay/neuter clinics in the region, sterilizing 30–40 dogs daily during their stay to help address these issues. Your support will help CVM’s team of veterinarians and students make a meaningful impact!

Location: VCA Riverbend Animal Hospital
When: Saturday, February 1, 2025
Suggested Donation Amount: $25.00

Let’s make this year’s event even more impactful! Book your slots now, mark your calendars, bring your pets, and help us give back!

It's - You know what that means!

It means we celebrate the 20,923 x-rays taken in 2024 hands-free! It means a whopping 85% of our x-rays are now being taken hands-free! 🙌 And that’s just counting the ones entered through our system (we all know about retakes😉).

Why does this matter? By moving to , we’re significantly reducing for our associates, contributing to a safer workplace while continuing to provide top-tier care for our patients. It's a win for both our teams and our animal patients!

A special shout-out to the amazing team over at VCA Canada Western Veterinary Specialist & Emergency Centre for capturing diagnostic-quality images for radiation therapy planning on this beautiful patient. And we can’t help but smile at the creative scrunchie ear application—great job Team Western! 🎀

It's ear-mite Monday.....ew. Here is your reminder that ear mites are microscopic pests that live in your pet’s ears and can cause serious irritation and discomfort.

Common signs of ear mites include:
- Excessive scratching or head shaking
- Dark discharge from the ears
- Red or inflamed ears
- A foul odor

These mites are contagious, especially in multi-pet households! If you notice any of these symptoms, don’t wait—bring your pet in for a check-up. Early detection and treatment can prevent infections and keep your pet happy and healthy.

Winnie, the tortoiseshell cat, was with us last week because she wasn’t interested in eating her food. It turned out she had a fever and needed a little extra TLC and IV fluids to help her feel better. We’re wishing Winnie a speedy recovery and sending her all our love!
