November,... The sun beats down warming the earth below us. Sweat beads across our foreheads stinging the eyes if not swabbed. Long tongues drag through the wind drifts of leaves, hoping we chose today for a swim destination. A lone mosquito foolishly pesters my face and neck only to meet his maker. Squirrels and birds out of hibernation to catch the first of the spring sunshine and rekindle their dwindling winter supply of nuts and seeds. We journey our forest as we did last week when winter was near, yet today, with skin exposed, maybe we'll get a tan, but probably a burn. We cycle our trails through the seasons packing our pathways deep into the snow, dirt and mud. We accept the daily challenges as team strengthening experiences and bond through bravery and exhaustion. A tree across the trail, flooded out access ways, and even summertime in winter. Bring it on, we are Pack Strong! 🏖️ LR

Gushing wind howls through the timbers far overhead. The trees rock and smack one another sending scarce leaves one by one to the forest floor until there are no more. Our ceiling, our shade, our canopy is no longer there. Exposed to eternity above, we push through the wind watching the carpet of leaves below foot come alive with each gust. We shuffle through, wind sifting through our fur cooling us from our excursions and bringing sweet new smells to our noses. Smart squirrels have evacuated their high homes and are working from the ground today making easy targets. Dark clouds pass over, some rain begins. Damp now, but still warm and still hustling we carry on through the winding forest trails to plan. A rogue gust causes tree tops to kiss sending pinecones to the floor. Bait for our hunted. With the wind at our backs, we complete our mission, our journey to the end. The adventure is complete and only memories and paw prints remain. We let the forest rest now for the weekend and recover from the wind trauma and embarrassment of its naked limbs. We will return soon to keep her company and thank her for the enriching memories.

Happy Halloween today's tail. We are brave, we say, as we remember our intent. Trees seeming to lean towards us with gnarled branches reaching out like twisted claws. Every step taken leads us closer to the end. Every cracking stick on the ground under foot leads us more into fear. Deep slow breaths, one by one, trying not to make a sound. We could hear whispers in the wind, beckoning us deeper into the tangled depths of the forest. We are in too far to turn back. We were not alone in the forest; there was something else out there, something ancient and primal that lurked in the shadows. Halfway point passed, we might make it. We have a sense of being watched, of unseen eyes following our every move through the tangled undergrowth. The end is nearly in sight, nearly running now. We felt as if the forest itself was testing us, pushing us to our limits to see how much fear we could endure. We exit the forest, gasping for air as if trapped under water. We could hear the distant howl of wolves, their mournful cries sending chills down our spines. We are through the shadowed pass. We are safe, we are all here. We are brave!

Creaking trees in whispering winds and forever falling leaves like orange snow through the forest today. Silence around every turn until another sudden gust of wind stirs the trees. We shuffle through the orange and red carpet on the forest floor hoping we are still on path. No wildlife, no people, no complaints. A peaceful day in the forest is an experience to the ears, eyes and heart. Tranquility is nature,... Nature is tranquil. 🍂LR

Blue skies illuminate overhead through our patchy yellow canopy as sun rays blast through offering warmness to our skin and fur. Squirrels in the distance so loud scavenging amongst the crunching leaves while more continue to fall from the now baren trees. Our forest is nearly naked and soon will sleep for a long winter. The forest thrives, boasts and takes pride in its beauty and offerings throughout the green seasons. In winter, it offers passage and challenge to those who enter. No warmth, no color, and no movement. We visit our forests every day. We will keep them from loneliness on the coldest days, keep the sound of happiness echoing throughout the woodland, and maintain her natural nature until the green season people return again in the spring. 🌳🌳LR

Red, brown and yellow leaves crunch under paw with each step. Green leaves still clinging above rustling in windy gusts. Our canopy has thinned. Gaping holes now allow the sun to find us down here on the forest floor. Leaves that remain above us are holding on as if there is chance they will be spared. Autumn is fall. Falling leaves, falling temperatures, falling daylight, then falling snow. In spring we watch beauty's birth from the ground. It matures with us all summer, then in autumn, regression. Returning to seed and soil. Natures short circle of life is apparent to us every day in a piece of its cycle. So obvious to see, yet so easy to miss without being here every day, under our canopy. 🍂LR

Cool crisp air with a nip kept us moving, and super blue skies led the way with blazing beams through the remaining leaves above us. Trees rustling in winters wind and fallen leaves slowly returning to dirt under our feet. Seasons come and go fast. Autumn is a transfer season, transferring us into a hibernation stage. Gathered rain drops dripping from leaves above. A squirrel rustling amidst branches and debris for his ultimate prize. Crunching leaves under foot. Suttle, yet the loudest sounds in the forest today. With ears so used to full volume city life, the forest is the only place we can truly hear ourselves and feel at one with our surroundings and the animals amongst us. 🌳🌳

Bridges crossed, paths taken and hills climbed. We venture to the horizon with leaves falling from the highest trees covering our path and our prints almost leaving us unaware which way to go or how to return. Thankfully, we follow the autumn sun and the scent of many marked trees to find our way back to the hustle and bustle of city life and back in time for dinner. 🧭

Perfect temperatures, blue skies and good traction today to cover great distances with good speed. Leaders kept eye on direction and a handle on the ropes, while the pack scanned the thickets for mangy critters and characters with no tickets. 10K today is all I say, now the doggos no longer wanna play! 🐾

We gloosh gloosh splat walk the boggy trails today watching terrified squirrels leap tree to tree and birds hoping for their prize worm in the puddles ahead. We think back of the sun, the heat, the sweat and the panting last week and all summer. Then we realize, rain is good, rain is cool and rain is fun as we splat through another puddle to see who can get the wettest.
