Rose and I worked on stall etiquette today on top of our cross tie training and feet. Today was the first day I was able to safely pick up and pick out all four feet as well! It was a good day for progress with this gorgeous girl. She also stands much better for grooming but is still pawing quite a bit. Gaining a few percent each day! Her personal space bubble is also improving.

Day one of Rose learning to cross tie. She improved a bit by the end of today's session, this was the very beginning. Rose is the newest member under my wing as well as the new member of my clients family 💜 It will take some time for her to settle in, and I've quickly learnt that she has no sense of personal space and so far has never been cross tied. I'll be working with her daily for the next while and I'm super excited to see the progress as I continue to work with her! Watch the page to see her progression.

Rosie saying hello this morning 😂 she loved the nice weather today! We worked on groundwork with both these girls today, Rosie and I worked on adding buttons on her sides to get her to move certain ways depending on where the pressure was. Luna and I worked on manners while leading as she has a tendancy to drag you down to graze. Both girls did amazing and there was lots of improvement today 🥰 Their owner is having a lesson on them next week!

Hand grazing is an amazing tool to use or add into your daily training schedule!
The grass on the other side of their paddock fence is much better than the grass in their paddock, right?
One of the main reasons to hand graze your horse is of course because they enjoy it. But adding it into your training schedule can be very beneficial. Horses love to eat and spending time with them doing one of their favourite activities can really help you bond with your horse. You yourself can learn a lot from their body language and they'll learn that you're happy to let them relax and eat and that its not all about work when they spend time with you. It also allows you to spend a few moments to relax and come back to your sessions with a relaxed body and calm mindset.
Forage is also the number one thing in a horse's diet. Grass contains a lot of the natural nutrients that they require in their diet. Their paddocks may not have as much grass as the unmowed parts of your yard or they may just spend more time at the hay while in their paddocks. Horses will get a lot of the nutrients they need from just grazing outside their paddock.
Its a nice reward and break in between little wins when you're doing groundwork and it will make your sessions more enjoyable for them and will allow you to avoid using treats or for you to use less treats and more natural and healthy rewards in your sessions.
