You may have seen us post with this curious kitty before 🐱 Boots was our on-farm bandage inspector today, as he decided to get a front row seat to make sure our bandage expert, RVT Taylor, did the absolute best job on Peter’s stacked wrap.
According to Boots, she passed the test ☑️
❤️🩹 Purpose of a stacked bandage: this technique is use to bandage an upper portion of the limb.
A normal bandage is placed on the distal (lower) limb, and acts as a shelf to hold the bandage on the upper limb in place.
Without a bandage on the lower limb, the upper bandage can slip or slide down, which could also cause disruption to the limb’s circulation.
This wrap is utilized in certain cases such as a wound on the upper portion of a limb, or as a compression bandage to reduce swelling/inflammation in cellulitis/lymphangitis cases. It may also be utilized if immobilization of the limb is important.
