🎁 Unwrap Their Second Chance - A Superhero Story 🎁
Every superhero needs an origin story, and for brave pup Peter Parker, his didn’t have an easy beginning. This Peter Parker didn’t start out swinging from the rooftops, his started out fighting for his life.
We were called with a desperate plea for help when a dog was brought in by a good Samaritan to a local vet clinic, after being left for dead in a ditch following a run-in with a vehicle. Peter was in rough shape, with road rash on his body, a nasty abdominal wound, and a broken pelvis and shattered femur. He was also covered in fleas, extremely malnourished, and it was clear he was weak and in pain.
After his condition stabilized with nutrition, fluids, and medications, Peter Parker went into surgery to address his abdominal wound, and to amputate his broken leg, which was the best option to give him a high quality of life for many years to come. He faced his surgery with courage, and only a day later was wagging his tail and beginning to hop around.
Once fully healed, Parker embarked on his next adventure - finding a forever home! And it didn’t take him long. Almost as soon as he was cleared for adoption, Parker charmed over his new family with his easygoing nature, handsome good looks, and gentle spirit. Peter Parker may have lost a leg, but he gained a family, and a future full of many great adventures.
We’re so grateful that Peter Parker’s superhero story had a happy ending, but these second chances come at a cost. Emergency surgery, overnight veterinary care, laser therapy, and post-op rechecks quickly added up to over $5000. Because we have such an amazing community, we were able to cover the costs without delay and without hesitation. Your donations allow us to give lifesaving care to dogs like Peter Parker.
This holiday season, help us Unwrap Their Second Chance by donating toward our winter campaign to help us reach our $100,000 goal!
