Grizzly at Quarry lake dog park/surrounding area at 9 PM. To my understanding Fish and Wildlife are aware and they are keeping an eye out.

I'm sure all of the dogs will be pretty happy when this heatwave breaks in a couple days. It's been a challenging week for them to say the least. That said, we did our best by sticking to the shade, hitting the water whenever possible and staying well hydrated. :)
Tix three were certainly enjoying their time at the quarry dog pond today! Love watching these dogs. Have fun. Shiloh, Begbie and Silver posed for a picture for me on the way out. ♥️👍🏻🧀

It's true, your pup would rather be comfortable than go for a scorching hot walk. 🤷🏻‍♂️

To my human moms & dads, this is what happens to my paws when you take me out in the scorching sun ☀️ when the pavement is so hot !

Remember I sweat through my paws, so in this heat I can’t get rid of my sweat as my paws are burning. Missing my walk won’t harm me. Please let me just relax indoors and take me out when the sun is down🐾

If you see someone walking their dog on hot pavement, ask them to take off their shoes for the remainder of their walk home. Maybe then they'll understand.

Hello everyone, soon after my post regarding the safety of our dogs in this heat, my air conditioning failed in my van. 🤬 This, of course, puts me in a bad situation. It would be completely irresponsible, and unsafe, for me to try and continue operating in these conditions therefore, I have no choice but to temporarily shut down until I find an alternative means of transporting the dogs or until my appointment with the mechanic on Friday morning. This does not affect my first morning run each day as the temperatures are much cooler and more tolerable for the dogs. I will also be starting each morning a little bit earlier to take advantage of the cooler temps. :)
If any of my weekly regulars are reading this, please note that I will be reaching out to everyone individually to make temporary arrangements if anyone is in a bind.
I would much rather be working and not having to interrupt my services but unfortunately that's the way it goes sometimes.
Thank you for your patience and understanding over the next couple of days and it should be business as usual after my appointment on Friday.

It's 30° and I am currently at the dog park with a crew of some of my absolute favorite canines! Please remember to be aware of your dog's ability in the heat and make sure they are well hydrated.
That being said, it is my absolute priority and responsibility to make sure that these pups arrive to and from our local parks safely and happily! Over the next week or so we will be experiencing some of the hotter days of our short summer. That means that our walks could be shortened a little bit in the name of safety.
Please remember that not all dogs are capable of being out in the extreme heat for long periods of time. The shorter the snout the more difficult it is for your dog to cool down. It's also a good idea to point out that in the extreme heat, the sidewalks and the streets can get very hot, very quickly and can burn our pets pads.
Let's all do our part to keep our furry family members happy and safe! :)

A huge thank you to all who came out for the volunteer clean up at the helipad dog park today!! We managed to clean up approximately 100 lbs of abandoned p**p, as well as, get a pretty good start on clearing the rocks on the walking path that were left behind after the 2013 floods. :) I, for one, will be happy to walk those areas without twisting my ankle. The dogs like it as well!
All and all we had a decent turn out, although we had hoped for more, and we enjoyed some good conversation over coffee and donuts while all of our pups frolicked in the park.
Great job everyone!!! Let's do it again soon.
Stay tuned for our next planned clean up/rock clearing sometime in July.

Say hi to Junie!
Junie is a female black lab with a super sweet disposition. She has a zest for life and has several other dogs on my roster that she loves to play with. She is seemingly good in pretty much all scenarios which says a lot about her own caregivers. :) I absolutely love seeing her each morning and my time with her always makes me smile.

Hi everyone,
At Your Bark and Call is organizing a park clean up on Saturday June 15th starting at 12 PM until at least 3 PM at the 1A/Heliport off leash area. Our goal, as has been the past number of years, is to rid the park of all dog f***s and help educate others the importance of cleaning up after our dogs. We are all guilty of missing one from time to time so this is a good way to come together as a community and help take care of one of our busiest parks.
We are also looking for people to assist in clearing/picking/raking rocks on the side of the park nearest the highway exit. People of all ages use this park and for some it is difficult to get around due to the amount of rocks that are present after the 2013 flood.
Things we will need:
-rakes
-picks
-shovels
-wheelbarrows

Things that will be provided:
-bags
-large garbage bags
-coffee
-juice boxes for kids
-water for dogs
-wagon for collection

There will also be a SPCA donation jar for anybody who wants to donate.

Tick season is here!!!
Please be sure to thoroughly inspect your pets after each outing for the next little while. Also, if you find one on your pet, or yourself, be sure to put it in a container and take it to one of our local vets and they will send it away for testing. Depending on the vet, there may be a courier fee involved that you would be responsible for but definitely worth it in the end.

I'll be featuring all of the dogs that I am lucky enough to see each week on my new "get to know Canmore's dogs" posts. I'm a big believer in getting to know each dog on a personal level to better my ability to both care for them and train with them, depending on each of my clients needs.
First up is Storm. :)
I have not met one person who doesn't express their love for her each and every time I have her along. Justly so, she is an absolute sweetheart, but she can be quite timid in certain environments. It took me a few weeks before we were truly bonded and I am always quick to point that out when people are disappointed that she won't approach them. I get it, her mere presence is enough to make you want to stop and give her some love and a few pets. :)
I absolutely adore this dog and always look forward to my time with her (and her sister Skoki) each and every week!
She was a little camera shy but let me take a couple of quick photos for the cause.

You might not know this but Cashel is the biggest dog at the park! Not just today, but everyday! I just watched her kick nine other dogs butt in a game of dog park rugby! Lol It wouldn't matter who beat who to the ball, or who was carrying it, she would always plow her away into the middle of the scrum and come out the other side with the ball in her mouth. She would then run away holding her head up proud. Most times not even being able to see where she's going due to the ball being bigger than her head. 😂
She cracks me up, and just like all the others, wiggled her way straight into my heart!

Double barrel shotgun fun this Friday afternoon!!
Why are these two so special you ask? While it's a no-brainer to say I love all of the dogs I care for equally, some are just not as happy in the back as the others. I try and make each and every dog's experience as enjoyable as possible. Both to and from and while we are at the parks. :)

Hi everyone,
Due to the large amount of snow that we have received over the last 24 hours, there is a possibility that I may have to scale down my schedule today due to the fact that I am currently stuck and have been stuck twice so far in an hour and a half. At this rate there is no possible way I can complete my schedule unless I'm on the road soon. Please stay tuned to this post for updates. Fantastic crew of pups to see on one of my AM runs this morning!! The energy and enthusiasm these guys all have is seemingly endless. If I could only tap into it!! Lol Seeing them all have fun each day puts a big smile on my face! :)
I'll see most of these guys tomorrow but our time is up for today. Now it's on to the next crew!!

I hope everyone has a fantastic week!
Please note that due to the falling temperatures, I will be monitoring the dogs closely and make sure that they are all comfortable while on our walks. On some of the more extreme cold days I may have to cut the walks a tad short depending on how everybody is doing.
They usually surprise me. :)

Heads up everyone, canine lice is going around. I have no confirmed cases within my current client list but know of some dogs in the valley who have it.
This is highly transferable from dog to dog, so if you have confirmation your dog has it, it is recommended you keep your dogs out of the social environment until it is clear to do otherwise.
Please make your fellow pet lovers aware.

It was great to run into some old friends/clients yesterday at the park. Theo (left) and Rosie (right) used to be on my regular roster each week. Laurie was passing through on route from Nelson to Edmonton for the weekend. I was able to visit with the pups for a minute and got a bonus hug before we all parted ways! It was a great surprise visit. Miss them already!!
