DOG OWNERS! There has been a confirmed outbreak of canine parvovirus in the city.

This puts unvaccinated, senior and young dogs at high risk. Even if you and your dog do not travel to the city - the risk of Parvovirus making its way to the Valley is completely possible.

🚨 So what is Parvovirus?
Parvovirus is a highly contagious and potentially deadly virus that attacks a dog’s gastrointestinal system, causing severe vomiting and often bloody diarrhea, extreme dehydration leading to weakness and lethargy.

🚨How does it spread?
The virus spreads through direct contact with an infected dog, contaminated surfaces, and can even travel human shoes or clothing.

🚨How to Protect Your Dog:
-Vaccinate! Puppies need their full series of boosters, and adult dogs require regular boosters. Call us if you're unsure what your dog's current status is.
-Keep unvaccinated dogs away from dog parks, daycares, and boarding facilities and popular walking trails.
-Strict hygiene. Wash your hands, change clothes / disinfect shoes after exposure to unknown dogs or visiting public spaces.
- Monitor for symptoms. Contact your vet IMMEDIATELY if your dog shows signs like vomiting, bloody diarrhea, lethargy, or loss of appetite.

Parvovirus can be life-threatening and intensive veterinary care is often required for survival, but proper vaccination and caution can help prevent it, Parvovirus vaccines are highly effective in preventing canine Parvovirus. We all need to do our part to protect our community by spreading this message!

Make sure your pups are up to date with their vaccines!

FULL! I will start a waitlist in case of cancellations - if there’s enough , I’ll look to see if I can squeeze in another time slot . 🫶🏻

Upcoming class 🚨
On account of the snow melting, and this cold letting up - I am looking at dates to run a couple of group classes in April.
Classes will be outdoors, and I’m actually hoping we may be able to do some classes in public areas now that the days are stretching out (yay!).

I’m condensing classes down to four weeks versus six - six weeks is such a commitment for a lot of people and my schedule is very full .
My hope is for us to do 2 classes here at the house, and then apply our skills and do 2 classes in Greenwood (Canadian tire parking lot most likely) to put our skills into practice.

Spots will be limited to six to insure quality one on one time during class.
Tentative start date would be April 9th 630-730pm , with the possibility of a second time/day if there is enough interest.
Cost $200 plus tax ($50 deposit due at sign up).

Message if you have questions or want to sign up :)

For anyone looking for March Break Boarding!

01/23/2025

I have mini bolt cutters from Princess Auto as well as a multi-tool in my pack!
The mini bolt cutters work best on the hardcore wire in snares, from testing, and the multi-tool pliers have also been essential for other incidents like a few porcupine quills to the face *cough cough* Bramble *cough cough* (only minorly stuck in otherwise definitely would need the vet).

As you know, roads can start getting icy this time of year. A common de-icing product known as rock salt is a mixture of sodium chloride that helps reduce ice build-up on roads.

What you may not know is that rock salt can be extremely dangerous to pets - especially when ingested or licked from paws and fur. Symptoms of salt poisoning include drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite.

If you suspect your pet may have ingested rock salt, contact Maritime at
902-938-0838 right away. You can also connect with the Pet Poison Helpline at 1-855-764-7661.
