One of my favourite parts of the summer is fresh local corn, but remember to keep cobs away from your pups!
It is corn season in the Valley! Although this is great news for us humans, just a friendly reminder that...
🌽❌ Cobs of corn are *NOT* to be fed as a treat to your dogs! ❌🌽
Corn cobs can create intestinal blockages that need to be removed surgically or can ultimately be fatal.
Do your dogs a favor and ensure corn cobs are disposed of properly and please do not give them to your dogs to chew on, play with, or potentially eat.
Reminder that we are closed Monday, July 22!
Thanks all for your patience while we took a little break! See you back tomorrow, Tuesday, July 16, for our regular daycare program.
⚠️⛈️ Severe Thunderstorm Warning ⛈️⚠️
Environment Canada is tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing heavy rain.
Previously we were under a watch which has since been upgraded to a warning.
When conditions indicate severe weather is forming, a watch will be released to make the public aware of what could happen. A warning is the next step in the process.
Please be careful out there this evening, significant rainfall has already come down and more is anticipated.

⚠️⛈️ Severe Thunderstorm Watch ⛈️⚠️
Severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for most of the Annapolis Valley this afternoon.
Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rain.

The weather forecast calls for hot, humid weather this week. Please keep your best bud safe.
Your vehicle – even with the windows down – can quickly reach a temperature that puts your pet at risk of serious illness or death.
When the weather is warm, it’s best to leave your four-legged friend at home. If you can’t, use the drive-through, curbside pickup, or visit pet-friendly businesses to avoid a potentially tragic outcome.
If you encounter an animal in a vehicle that appears to be in distress (exaggerated panting; anxious or staring expression; muscle tremors; lack of coordination; red or blue tongue and lips; convulsions; vomiting; or collapse), call 911 and stay with the animal until officers arrive.
If you’re unsure if an animal is in distress, call the Nova Scotia SPCA - Enforcement at 1-888-703-7722 and speak with the call-taker.
Reminder that we are closed Monday, June 17, 2024!
Let’s talk about Cyanobacteria Poisoning (AKA blue-green algae)🦠
Now that the weather is warming up, it provides the perfect conditions to promote the growth of blue-green algae which can be very dangerous for your pets if coming in contact.
Blue-green algae typically is found in ponds and lakes but can also be present in oceans, fresh water, damp soil, backyard fountains and even on rocks. Indication that an area may be contaminated is water may appear as a green color or have a slime-like surface.
Dogs can become poisoned from this by drinking the water or swimming in contaminated water sources.
Unfortunately if ingested can cause serious illness and symptoms such as
- Seizures
- Panting
- Excessive drooling
- Respiratory failure
- Diarrhea
- Disorientation
- Vomiting
There have been 3 areas so far that have been reported (last updated May 30th, 2024) of blue-green algae. Pigott Lake, Springfield Lake Beach, and Cranberry Lake.
If you think you see blue-green algae, you should treat it as potentially toxic. Report it to your local Department of Environment and Climate Change office or call 1-877-936-8476

Officially opening our new indoor play space today! 🥳 With this we will be making a few small changes so just wanted to update here. First, we will be directing drop off and pick ups for daycare to the our newer, larger, left side of the driveway, run, as our new room is built within our garage. We will continue to monitor in person as always and have moved the furniture from the house over to our new room, so it’s still homey! The new space provides an indoor area that is better set up for playing, offers a play space for adverse weather conditions, and more space in general. We will also still continue to have small play groups and small daily numbers overall, as always. Dogs here for boarding will still come in the house to sleep in the suite and will continue to play in either run during the day. We will use the small pen for boarding dog drop off and picks ups going forward to help create more space and slow introductions for dogs who may not know each other as well. If you have any questions or concerns as we make this transition please let me know!
Bramble and Fisher wanted to thank all our clients for their flexibility the last few days while we changed some schedules around so they could go on a little autumn backcountry adventure with their Momma! They are ready for naps now 😴
🎶”For me, I really like ✨the hole✨” 🎶 We did some enhancements to the big run this weekend, but don’t worry we left ✨the hole ✨ It’s far from the fence and not hurting anything, and they love it so much I didn’t have the heart to fill it in just yet 😂
Hi all! The boys “helped” us get the runs cleared out today and our power is back on so we are all set for daycare tomorrow after the mess of Hurricane Fiona. We hope all our friends and customers made it through ok and if you need to make a change of schedule this week due to lack of power, etc. just let us know!
My day five of isolation as a household contact COVID test continued to be negative so we will be reopening tomorrow as hoped! Hooray! 🥳 #jumpforjoy
