It’s been just over a year since Rochelle Simpson left this earth and we still think of her often. Rochelle taught us many lessons about the swiner things in life, and that it’s ok to sing at any moment of the day. She made a big impact on many pets and clients at the clinic. We miss you Rochelle!

Many of our clients have likely had the chance to meet Aliyah, a recent pre-vet graduate who spent the 2022 summer working here and came back this fall. She has been a great asset as we rebuild our team. Aliyah loves small animal surgery, cleaning wounds full of maggots, and dancing with large dogs!

Here’s something interesting we don’t see every day! Have you ever heard of Synechiae? Checkout this cats eye - the iris is adhered to the cornea. This condition was likely caused by inflammation in the eye or a past trauma such as a healed ulcer.

EXCITING NEWS!!

Dr Ryan Mohr of Ranch Docs will be joining us to see if there is interest in his services in the area. He will be happy to help us with our small and large animal clients.

Dr Mohr has been practising veterinary medicine in southern Alberta since his graduation from WCVM in 2008 and has spent his career working on all types of animals. He has a particular interest in the equine athlete and has taken additional training in complicated lameness cases and treating performance horses. Equine reproduction has also been a major focus of Dr Mohrs career, as well as becoming a certified animal chiropractor. Dr Mohr also enjoys optimizing herd performance with beef and dairy clients.

Have you ever seen a blue Doberman Pinscher before? Neither had we until today!
The blue Doberman coat color is the result of a recessive gene that inhibits full pigmentation, which causes dilution. Therefore, instead of appearing black and rust, Doberman’s with the dilution gene will appear blue and rust. Ta da! And now you know.
