I'm sitting down... a literal miracle!

We are now settled in and in full swing with the horses. Boy does it ever feel great. We've hardly had the time to sit down and be grateful for everything we have.

Now that we are both settled down, it's time to keep you all updated on the adventures of BAR Double R. We are flat out starting c**ts, prepping sale horses and tuning up client horses. Expect some more updates here as I promise to share more!

We have 20 horses in full time work, which means it's go go go from sun up to sun down! Thank you Lord for providing us with so many opportunities, and thank you to our new community for the support. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates!

We have moved! Permanently!

So happy to share that we are officially located west or Caroline, our beautiful property boasts endless natural obstacles, with two creeks, a bridge and forested areas.

We are absolutely thrilled to continue on our journey on this amazing piece of land. Our sales program is in full swing. From unstarted to well broke we have all available.

We were blessed to welcome this stunning c**t to our farmily 5 days ago. This quality pony c**t out of an outstanding gypsy type mare will surely be an athletic large pony prospect in his future. Welcome Arthur!! He will go grey and we are excited to watch him grow up and flourish

Standing at 15.3hh
This super quiet to handle dude is an absolute blessing to have around the farm. Enjoys being brushed and super easy to catch. He is broke to ride and has a good stop, he is still a bit green in that he isn't finished and his training comes from being track started but he is safe with no buck bolt or rear. Has lovely movement for the dressage/jumper ring and enough experience around cattle to make a quick roping project. Good run to him as well for barrels etc.
He was never raced and you can lookup his name "schramtastic"
This dude would be an easy horse to finish your way, and hard to find big geldings!
Only vice is that Schram doesn't tie, he does however hobble perfectly still and will go with his hobbles when sold.

Sneak Peak!

Will be officially for sale next week as he finishes his 30 days. This QUALITY pony would make a perfect dressage jumping or reining pony. He seriously has 10/10 movement, a floaty and big trot with lots of knee and hock action. He has been free jumped to 3' and has room to spare. At 4 years old hes ready to dive head first into his new career with someone handy who can finish him in whatever discipline they like. At 13hh he's the perfect height for an adult to school while a child starts to take over.

Gentle minded but forward with balance and try. This is bound to be an upper level pony no matter what way you finish him!

We call her "Tweety" she as sweet and gentle as they come with not a mean bone in her body. This agile, smooth and steady loping mare has a handful of rides and just gets better, softer and smarter every day.
Below is her Sire and Dams pedigree. She has lots of stop bred into her and shes starting to show that in her training. Tweety is decent to catch, great to trim, great to load, great to tie and saddle and bridle.
She has been exposed to cattle, pigs, chickens and turkeys and hauled to arenas. It wont take much to get this wonderful mare going your way!

Were you watching closely? Yes thats Dill Pickle going out alone, and completing all the obstacles first try! Our favorite pony Dill Pickle is 14hh of bomb proof and lots of go! This dude is game for literally anything. You'll be seeing him for sale in the near future. He only has a week's riding after being a chuck wagon pony his whole life, and we couldn't be happier with how he's transitioned!

6 year old Arab gelding. Huge potential with this fun guy. Of course I added the little spook. I'm not over here pretending the first 30 days is always perfect!!

Paddington heard that there is a little girl or boy out there wishing for a fuzzy riding and driving pony this Christmas. Turns out Santa can't fit him in his sack so Santa asked me to make sure that little child's parents heard about Paddington so they could wrap him up and throw him under the tree.

⛄️This adorable, friendly and patient little man is safe and quiet, great for lead line riding and green broke to drive and ride.⛄️

🎅 The best part about Paddington is hes not your typical sassy, pushy, nippy pony. He is a Saint and ties like a dream and loves to be brushed on. Has never been overly spoiled but genuinely loves learning new things!🎅

❄️ Get a head start in ensuring your kid doesn't end up a pot head as a teen by encouraging their passion for horses now so they have no money to spend on drugs later in life. Seriously. Worked for me!❄️

This kind dude would do great for a savvy young rider wanting to show, he hauls and handles new places fearlessly. He really is the kind of horse you need for your husband, or to boost your own confidence.

3 easy gaits rode on a loose rein, George is naturally balanced and almost has his auto changes down. Leave him for a month and jump on and he's the same guy as he was when you left him. He is safe safe safe!!

10/10 personality too, George loves his people and attention. Quiet to catch groom and tack up. Stands tied for hours and just a very cool guy!

A little late to this post but I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts to our clients in 2021, we sold 40 consignment horses and started dozens of c**ts. It was a fantastic year for Zoe and I and we can't wait to continue on with our consignment and training program for 2022!

We are working hard to connect buyers with the horses of their dreams. We are currently booked for the foreseeable future for intaking of consignment horses. But will absolutely update here when that changes!!

18yr old, 15.1hh Thoroughbred mare, has been a lesson horse in a hunter jumper barn most of her life. This girl is SAFE SAFE SAFE! Walk trot canter on a loose rein, one handed or two, needs no pushing or slowing to maintain the speed you set her in, quiet but not a dead head. Rides outside or inside, good alone and with others, great to catch, lead, load, tie, tack up, trim, great in a herd, time off doesn't matter to this gem either! Great addition to your lesson program, for your kiddo, or as a safe mount for yourself.

Located in Elkton AB, north west of Calgary, do have a hauler going to Vancouver Island on January 24th and she can be put on the trailer then as well!

Trust and relaxation

Comet is an 11 year old off the track thoroughbred with about 30 rides off the track. She came to me last year to get those 30 rides on and assess her willingness under saddle because her owner wanted to see if she would be a good broodmare (these breeders need a round of applause! Assessing a horses rideability prior to breeding is a very good idea). I loved working with Comet last summer, and when she became available to purchase, bred albeit, I jumped at the opportunity. Because of our trust in each other and the relaxation I've strongly emphasized in her training Comet happily canters gently along, no reins. Not all off the track thoroughbreds can so quickly learn to slow and carry themselves in a slower tempo, but it's one of the reasons I fell in love with this 17hh sweetheart and decided to add her to my herd of horses. Now she will continue her education in archery and over fences and I can't wait to watch her further develop.

SOLD, Maurice is so happy he found his perfect youth rider. What a match made in heaven!!

Maurice the Space Cowboy!!

You'll be the talk of the town riding this handsome 5 year old Friesian x quarterhorse gelding around your trails!!

Maurice is a 15.1hh but stout gelding with an engine. He is in full time work currently, seeing approximately 15km a day and arena time. He rides out solo or with a group.

Maurice is sensible and would accommodate an *experienced confident rider* who wants to do any kind of high intensity sport. Although Maurice is green in the arena he is a pro out on the trail. Never slows, careful with his footing, a babysitter down steep hill. Maurice just began some English riding and arena work and is showing great promise. He is working into some contact and carrying himself nicely in the arena. Maurice would love to find a home doing extreme trail, endurance, or ranching. He would also be a great project for a jumper or cross country rider. Don't let his size fool you he moves like a big one.

He is athletic, sound with no maintenance. Maurice stands tied beautifully and awesome to shoe and trim. He is currently shod to accommodate the terrain he sees daily but does not require them and is 100% sound without.

Maurice is amazing in a herd, middle of the pecking order, very kind and even gets my oldies playing in the field. Hes a total character and a joy to have around.

He is located in Peachland, British Columbia.

Janice is a sweet mare around 15.1hh

She is a great trail riding buddy and goes out in a group or alone. She passes traffic without an issue and is great to catch, groom and tackup. Janice is awesome with her feet. Is currently barefoot but has been shod before. Sound sound sound!!

Janice prefers a saddle with no back cinch and could use a reminder on some manners like standing still to be mounted but otherwise is a simple and safe mare for riding. Crosses water no hesitation.

Low in pecking order and very easy to have around. Quiet mare overall.

If you have a little time to tune her up you'll have a phenomenal all around quiet mare for your riding needs!

Trainer and coach Robyn Skelly is moving to Peachland mid September!!

Robyn has started over a hundred c**ts, from ponies to drafts, quarter horses to warmbloods. Robyn specializes in c**t starting, halter breaking and developing ranch and pleasure horses. From years of experience gentling feral and wild horses she has developed fair and practical training methods to help horses learn in a way that suits that horse best. She has worked under several different trainers learning and developing her skills to be able to work with a wide range of disciplines. From jumping, ranch work, reining, cutting, mounted archery and trail riding, Robyn believes the foundation should be the same, fair and balanced.

Robyn also is a fantastic youth coach, and c**t starting coach. Offering local c**t starting lessons, where she will help you learn how to proceed with your horses training, from unhandled to starting under saddle and developing more advanced cues. Once she is settled in she will be offering outside horse training in a small quantity, as she is developing her personal prospects and focusing on coaching for the time being.

The drama free hitching rail.

It's no secret. There is no magic here. Just 6 horses (young and old) who know the rules. No pawing, neighing, pacing, prancing.

It's a valuable lesson to just. Stand. Tied.

Every horse on the property gets tied in groups, solo and on the trailer. There's nothing more aggrevating than a horse who doesn't stand tied nicely. Patience is valuable when riding and when tied so we emphasize that in our daily training.

"REDNECK RUCKUS"
8 year old sorrel registered appendix gelding

Ruckus is a wonderful horse who could go in any direction, at a nice 16.1hh he is built for almost any arena. He has 3 lovely and adjustable gaits and loves to work.

Ruckus has seen tons of trails and been exposed to cattle although he has never been worked on cattle he shows a good interest towards them. He is level headed trail riding or ditch riding alone or in a large group. He has been hauled extensively and crossed large rivers.

Ruckus has also been schooled in dressage basics, making him soft and adjustable with a good foundation in his lateral work. He has carried beginners to advanced riders and all seem to have a ton of fun on him. That being said Ruckus is not totally ready to solely have a beginner rider use him, he'd do best where he had someone to tune him up once in a while. This horse doesn't have a mean bone in his body at all. Very safe

He has been a competitive mounted archery horse for the last year and is comfortable in a competition environment. He truly is well rounded.

Ruckus has done a ton of pole work, gone through small grids and has just been started over small cross rails as he is getting ready for sale. He is showing good potential as a hunter or jumper, this horse would do well in a school program as well.
