💡 Lights aren’t just for mares — stallions can benefit from lighting programs as well!
Just like mares, stallions are seasonal breeders, and their fertility naturally drops during the winter months when daylight is shortest. While stallions can breed or collect year-round, many show reduced s***m output, poorer motility, and lower libido during the short-day season.
Using an artificial lighting program can help!
A 16-hour light / 8-hour dark schedule for approximately 70 days can help to bolster fertility and semen quality as spring approaches.
This is especially useful if you’re hoping to:
• Get an earlier start to the breeding season
• Freeze semen to build inventory before collection demand picks up
