Our collective sorrow has been further deepened by the recent discovery of hundreds of unmarked graves near the site of a former residential school for First Nations children, this time in Saskatchewan.
In Remembrance, and out of respect for all these souls, our flag at the Legion will be lowered to half-mast for an indefinite period of mourning, starting today.
We continue to join in spirit with our First Nations comrades to help them through this devastating time.
Our thoughts remain with all related families and communities.

The discovery of children’s remains in British Columbia has deeply saddened us all. In Remembrance of these children, we have lowered our flag to half-mast for 215 hours on the Legion.

The Legion flag will fly at half-mast today, in memory of over 10,000 Canadians who lost their lives or were wounded during this strategically important battle. It took place in France in 1917, during the First World War. As an expression of gratitude for the extreme sacrifices of Canadian soldiers, the area around Vimy Ridge was later decreed Canadian territory by France. Lest We Forget.
