While some pet owners see crate training as a cruel way of containing a pet, nothing could be farther from the truth. Crate training should be an important part of your pet's daily routine. Here are a few reasons why crate training is so important and what your groomer needs you to know:

1. Crate training should begin as soon as your pup is brought to their new home. A great breeder will have already begun accustoming to a crate giving you a head start.
2. You must be firm. Your pup may cry or bark but this is no reason to give in. Reward good behavior and your pup will catch on quickly.
3. Your pet's crate is their safety zone. Others should not be allowed to interfere within a pet's safety zone. The crate should be a comfortable/safe place to eat and/or sleep without the stress of interference.
4. Crates should never be used for punishment. Doing so will cause your pet to fear the crate making proper training difficult.
5. There will be times your pet needs to be crated...such as the veterinarian clinic and grooming salons. If your pet is not comfortable in a crate, this can cause unnecessary stress
6. Many pets have survived car crashes when crated. You may think your pet is happier out of the crate, but like children they cannot make decisions in their best interest. As responsible owners, keeping your pet in a crate while traveling helps ensure their safety in the event of a crash.

Taking the time to crate train your pet is beneficial for you, your pet, and your professional groomer. Talk to your professional groomer about crate training tips for your pet.

Looking for his forever home, "Jack" was cold and skinny when we finally captured him on our property this winter, he has since fattened up, is healthy, vaccinated, neutered and under a year old. He was so grateful to be indoors and warm, super sweet kitty ready to be loved in a home. Asking $100. Please contact us at 403-395-2211 if you are interested in giving Jack a good indoor home.

SABRINA'S STORY:
In the summer of 2022, Sabrina Glazier had everything to look forward to. She had just graduated and was a D1 member of Alberta High School Rodeo. Sabrina was preparing to head to Texas in the fall where she would be attending South Plains College to study Pre-Vet, as well as rodeo. Her hard work had provided her with multiple scholarships to help in this new endeavor.

Everything changed on July 29, 2022 when Sabrina sustained a severe spinal injury while warming up a young horse at home.

It is now 2023 and instead of thriving at college, Sabrina is still in the Foothills Hospital. Immediately after the accident doctors were forced to perform a spinal fusion surgery on Sabrina. Since then, Sabrina has remained in a back brace and will need a second spinal surgery before the brace can be removed. There is still a long road to recovery and an undetermined outcome.

Sabrina’s family describes her mindset as brave, grateful and faithful. Sabrina is determined and hopes to beat the odds to fulfill her dreams.

The financial burden associated with this recovery is daunting. Your support of the Sabrina Glazier Benefit Rodeo will help provide ongoing assistance for Sabrina’s journey.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:
* Monetary donations can be made through e-transfer (Canada) and Paypal (US) to [email protected]
* Watch for our online auction in the coming months (there will also be live and silent auctions at the rodeo). If you have an item you would like to donate to our auction, please email us! [email protected]
* Corporate sponsorship opportunities are available. Message us for more information.
* Share Sabrina's story and encourage your friends to support her recovery journey!
