Hello Everyone! In case you’re not aware, I am personally buying Dinky, Corgi and Matchbox toys in Any condition as I like to collect good to excellent condition toys and restore damaged toys. Original boxes are a big plus but not necessary. I Will also consider other makes such as Gamda, Sabra, Spot-On, Hot Wheels Redlines, Politoys, Mebetoys, Schuco, Mercury or what have you. Only Toys made before 1984. Paying higher than average dealer prices. Will pay by electronic transfer or cash if you are local. Will also pay reasonable shipping costs. This is a collecting avenue for Baby Boomers and Generation Xr’s or anyone who remembers taking a Lunchbox to school. This hobby will tug on your childhood heartstrings. So many potential avenues for collecting these. They are excellent display items. From TV Shows, Rock Bands and Childhood Icons. Keep in mind that not only is condition King but the inclusion of all original equipment is very important when considering a Lunchbox as a collecting investment. Some of these are valued in the thousands of dollars so consider investing in a catalogue for understanding prices and how to identify scarce versions. Perdue your Passion….Always!

License Plates collecting is an interest of mine. My Large Garage is my proverbial Man Cave and I have my collection of Licence Plates displayed on the walls. When I worked for the provincial highways department in my youth, I would find lost plates in ditches and medians while doing road maintenance. I also found them at Garage Sales, Swap meets and country estate auctions. Licence plates can be collected as a one of every state, province or county, or by your home country, state or province and going by one of each year or one of each type such as cars, trucks, buses, disability style, diplomatic, commemorative or symbolic vignettes. Caution as this particular hobby can be addictive. They can also be decorative for not only garages but recreational rooms, kitchens, children’s bedrooms and whatever your imagination allows. All in all the fun of this pursuit is what counts. Happy hunting!!!

For all the Automotive Enthusiasts! Collecting Automobile Sales Brochures can be a fun blast from the past hobby. It will not only be eye candy for the collector but a historical reference to options, colours, engines, fabrics and specifications of favourite cars or brands. Can be displayed or, like comic books, they can be acquired for variations or varieties such as brochures specific to the Canadian, European, Asian, Oceanic and other countries. Australian, New Zealand and South African brochures may be of special interest to the collector as they depict right hand drive versions of North American cars. You could lose yourself quickly in this fun hobby and the thrill of the hunt. Automotive swap meets and car shows in addition to on-line sales venues are great places to find these collectables. Another collecting avenue are Paperweights! There is even an association accredited to this hobby! The varieties are endless and can be found at flea markets, yard and church sales and the like! They can be composed of many materials and can encapsulate anything if they are made of resin! There are some beautiful examples of Glass Blowers art, imitating gold or silver bars or even plants, sea creatures, fossils and the list goes on! They creat a great eclectic display and are most appreciated in window light! Indulge if it strikes your fancy!

Here’s a collecting venue for you!! Cigarette Lighters! This is an item that has been collected by many for years! Now that smoking is out of vogue and will probably disappear in the future, the value will act accordingly! Many people have started collections by family hand me downs! I met a gentleman who collects Bic lighters! He has every colour under the rainbow and every theme imaginable! Again, as I have mentioned in previous posts, collecting these are subjective to what thrills you! Some like to collect lighters contingent on the complexity, others are thematic for example from cigarette companies, service stations, businesses etc! Others are Brand specific such as Zippo, Ronson, Dunhill and the like! As always! Collect what you like and what makes you happy! Enjoy folks!!!

A very inexpensive Hobby that I enjoy is collecting pins! It’s amazing the diversity that is out there from Airline, Disney, Olympic, work related, Automotive, Oil Companies, Safe driving and the list goes on! The collecting can be Thematic or whatever you come across! There are no boundaries! They are easily displayed on a frame, worn on a sash for special events or even on a hat! Choice is yours!!!

I’ve met many people who like collecting antique Cameras! They are surprisingly inexpensive with a few exceptions! German and Russian made equipment is quite desirable, however, the following for American and Japanese Cameras are expanding! Oddities seem to attract the most attention such as coloured Cameras other than black, grey or brown! Miniatures and bizarre configurations, and unusual makes and models are sought after! I have found little interest in movie Cameras though I am sure there a a few collectors out there! Enjoy on a budget!!!
