PEI CARES Low-Cost Spay and Neuter Program

PEI CARES is launching a low-cost spay and neuter program… and we’re kicking it off with low-cost neuter surgeries for male cats across Prince Edward Island! The program will start January 2026.

This is more than a program. It’s a game-changer for island families, for animal welfare, and for every cat who deserves a healthy life.

Thanks to an incredible partnership with PEI Veterinary Walk-In & Urgent Care in Charlottetown, this initiative will support families who want the best for their companion animals but need affordable access to essential veterinary care. Together, we’re working to reduce:
• unplanned litters
• behavioural challenges
• preventable medical issues
• overcrowding and needless euthanasia

Fewer surprise kittens. Fewer cats in distress. More healthy, happy animals staying in loving homes.

We are also thrilled to announce that Sunnybrook Farms Pet Supply in Summerside has joined as a sponsor for this program, helping make long-overdue support a reality for island families. Their compassion and commitment to community animal care means the world to us. If you haven’t visited their store yet, now is the perfect time!

This is only the beginning.
More details, registration information, and program guidelines will be released over the next few weeks.

Today, we pause to remember.
To honour all who served, human and animal alike.

From the smallest messenger birds to the largest working horses and elephants, animals have stood beside soldiers through unimaginable times. They didn’t choose to serve, yet they gave their strength, loyalty, and lives all the same.

May we never forget the sacrifices made on foot, paw, hoof, and wing. ❤️🌺

It’s our very first day here, and we are so excited to join this amazing community of local makers and food lovers.
